NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - President Bush has made up his mind to oust Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and ordered the CIA, the Pentagon and other agencies to develop a combination of military, diplomatic and covert steps to achieve this goal, according to newspaper reports.
While no military strike is imminent, Bush has concluded that Hussein and his nuclear, chemical and biological weapons are such a threat to U.S. security that the Iraqi leader must be removed, even if U.S. allies do not help, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing senior U.S. officials.
"This is not an argument about whether to get rid of Saddam Hussein. That debate is over. This is . . . how you do it," a senior administration official said in an interview with the paper.
