Kia Fastest Growing Car Maker in Australian Market
Quoting recently announced data from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries of Australia, Kia Motors explained Thursday that its sales from January to October this year recorded 20,668 vehicles, showing a 47.5 percent increase from that of last year. Kia’s sales growth rate was the highest among 58 automobile manufacturers in Australia. In particular, Kia’s Carnival recorded sales of 4,421 vehicles this year until October, occupying 35.3 percent market share, tops in the mini van section.
“As our brand image improves in Australia, our core vehicles such as the Carnival, and Rio are showing a favorable turn in sales,” said Chun Young-ki, the president of Kia’s subsidiary in Australia, adding “This year, our annual sales growth rate will rank No. 1 for the second straight year. We also expect that in the total sales rankings, in which our company was ranked 11th last year, we will enter the Top 10.” After bringing the Cerato and Bongo III Bus into the Australian market this year, Kia Motors will add its new sports utility vehicle, the Sportage, early next year.
