ZECOTEK GRANTS MANUFACTURING CONTRACT TO ANTERYON BV FOR KEY COMPONENT OF ITS 3D DISPLAY
Zecotek Medical Systems Inc. has selected Anteryon BV of the Netherlands to produce the key screen component of its proprietary real-time 3D2D display. Anteryon will produce Zecotek's proprietary three-dimensional lenticular display in a 32-inch screen format, considered the optimum size to demonstrate its potential power and user impact. The first demonstration model is expected to be delivered in October this year, and will be used for marketing and sales purposes, including demonstrations at upcoming industry trade shows.
"We are extremely pleased that Zecotek has selected Anteryon as its 3-D display production partner," said Geoff Bertenshaw, chief executive officer of Anteryon. "We recognize the unique and cutting-edge technology of Zecotek's 3-D display technology and we see it as a truly breakthrough product having a very large market potential."
"Anteryon is an industry leader recognized for its product performance and its innovative approach to manufacturing high-precision optical products," said Dr. A.F. Zerrouk, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Zecotek Medical Systems. "Our partnership with Anteryon is an important strategic milestone in the development of real-time 3D2D display. After initial production, we look forward to establishing a strategic joint venture for future mass production of our 3D2D display."
In March, 2007, Zecotek announced that it had signed a letter of intent (LOI) with a Japanese electronics major for its real-time 3D2D display. The LOI calls for both parties to lay the groundwork for a joint relationship whereby Zecotek and the company would collaborate on a continuing basis in the final assembly and commercialization of the 3D2D display. Under such arrangement, Anteryon BV will continue to manufacture the key screen component for the real-time 3D2D display. Zecotek continues to work toward creating a strategic relationship with the Japanese electronics major in preparation of mass production of the real-time 3D2D display. Under the LOI, the identity of the company remains confidential pending terms of an agreement.
Zecotek's real-time 3D2D display system is a novel, proprietary, real-time display system for the visualization of images and data. Based on the auto-stereoscopic principle, but with substantial innovative and patented improvements, it represents a new generation of 3-D displays. It is aimed at meeting all of the criteria for both mass market and professional desktop use. Its design provides for multiuser, multiview freedom of movement high-resolution in both 3-D and two-dimensional mode (higher than 1,024 times 768), superior image dynamic range in 2-D mode, 3-D and 2-D simultaneously, common brightness, and, importantly, compatibility with existing applications.
With its high resolution and unique technology, Zecotek's 2D3D display has attracted strong interest from a variety of end-users for applications in biomedical imaging, medical training, graphic design, advertising, education and entertainment. A 17-inch design is also being developed for desktop, medical and industrial training applications. The integration of the screen and final assembly will take place in Zecotek's Vancouver and Singapore facilities.
