MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Maxtor(R) Corporation (NYSE: MXO), a worldwide leader in hard disk drives and storage solutions, today announced it is the preferred supplier of consumer hard drives used by SONICblue's (Nasdaq: SBLU) next generation digital video recorder. Since 1999, SONICblue has relied on Maxtor's hard drives, service and expertise when it comes to developing products that meet the demands of today's consumer. SONICblue's ReplayTV 5000 family of digital video recorders is expected to be available today from major retailers across the United States.
Maxtor's QuickView(R) consumer hard drives are used in each of the four ReplayTV 5000 models, which allow users to record 40, 80, 160 or 320 hours of high quality TV programming, and/or home movies. The Maxtor drive technology also works in combination with ReplayTV 5000 system firmware to allow consumers to automatically record and to pause, replay and enable slow motion without tapes or timers.
