Update

04.09.02 15:00

4.9.)Novatel Wireless Signs Supply Agreement with IBM
28.8.)Novatel Wireless Merlin G201 Chosen by Chongqing Mobile, Subsidiary of China Mobile
27.8.)Novatel Wireless and PCTEL Enable Seamless Roaming Capability Across Wireless LAN and WAN Networks
26.8)Novatel Wireless Merlin G201 Granted Type Approval for Australia and Malaysia

Wobei vor allem die heutige Meldung etwas bewegen könnte. Zumindest wird NVTL vorbörslich mit 40 Cent gehandelt

Sonicblue's 3rd-Quarter Loss Narrows as Sales of DVD/VCR Players Surge

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Sonicblue Inc. (SBLU) posted a narrower loss in the third quarter on strong sales for the company's DVD players and combination DVD/ VCR players.
The maker of consumer electronics and digital-technology products late Wednesday said its net loss shrank to $32.4 million, or 33 cents a share, from a net loss of $55.3 million, or 62 cents a share, a year earlier.

On a pro forma basis, the company said its third-quarter loss came to $13.7 million, or 14 cents a share. Pro forma results exclude in-process research and development, restructuring expense and impairment charges and amortization of goodwill, intangibles and noncash deferred compensation.

A survey of three analysts by Thomson First Call yielded a mean estimate of a loss, excluding items, of 13 cents a share.

Sales jumped 43% to $78.4 million from $54.8 million. Sonicblue credited most of the increase to strong sales of DVD players and combination DVD/VCR players. Sales volume has climbed even as prices have dropped under competitive pressures, the company said.

During the quarter, Sonicblue said it launched several new digital audio products, including new Rio portable digital audio players; licensed technology to JVC to be incorporated into certain JVC-branded products, including a DVD/ VCR; and announced it was working with Intel to develop a portable Replay digital-video TV recorder device.

Sonicblue last month named L. Gregory Ballard to the position of chief executive and Marcus Smith to chief financial officer. They previously were serving as interim CEO and interim finance chief, respectively.

Mr. Ballard was tapped in August to replace Chairman and CEO Kenneth Potashner, who said he was fired following a dispute with the company's board over repayment of nearly $600,000 in loans to three members. Sonicblue said Mr. Potashner's termination had nothing to do with the alleged dispute.

A month later, Sonicblue unveiled plans to streamline its business structure, including a 25% work-force reduction and a consolidation of certain functions currently located in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Tigard, Ore., into its Santa Clara facility. The actions began immediately and will be implemented by the end of the year, the company said at the time.

"We have made decisions this quarter that were critical in our effort to drive towards improving operating results," Mr. Ballard said Wednesday in a prepared statement. "We expect the effect of these decisions to create a positive trend beginning in the fourth quarter and continuing beyond."

Sonicblue noted Wednesday that it owns approximately 120 million shares of chip maker United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC), which have a market value of about $81.8 million, based on the Sept. 30 closing price of UMC shares on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and the prevailing U.S. dollar to New Taiwan dollar exchange rate at that time.

SONICblue and TiVo Drop Patent Infringement
Suits
Friday November 8, 6:05 pm ET

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2002--SONICblue(TM) Incorporated
(Nasdaq:SBLU - News) and TiVo (Nasdaq:TIVO - News) announced today the
companies have reached an agreement to drop patent infringement suits that they filed
against each other last year that are pending in the United States District Court for the
Northern District of California. Each side will dismiss its claims against the other without
prejudice.

In a joint statement the two
                                         companies said, "We believe our
                                         energies are better spent
                                         expanding the market for Digital
                                         Video Recorders (DVRs) rather
than fighting each other. Both sides

believe in the merits of their
                                         respective positions, but the overall
success of the DVR category is
what is most important to the
                                         companies at this time."
