BOUGAINVILLE leaders have not come up with a set date to hold the Joint Supervisory Body (JSB) meeting to further the drawdown of powers and other development issues of Bougainville.
The Joint Supervisory Body (JSB) meeting is the avenue for the National Government and ABG including donor partners to discuss Bougainville forward. ABG political backbenchers are questioning when the JSB will be held because the issue is holding up many things for Bougainville to move forward.
Last month, new Bougainville Affairs Minister Pirika Kama announced they may hold the meeting this month after the Supplementary Budget, but no word has surfaced on the dates.
Mr Kama also announced that the National Government may hold one of their September National Executive Council (NEC) meetings in Bougainville.
The National Government will convene Parliament today and Bougainville leaders are hoping the Supplementary Budget would be introduced as this will also be the time when ABG should receive its K15million Development Grant from the government. JSB is the meeting where all National Government Departments relating to Bougainville issues and the ABG meet to discuss and iron out specific issues of development and the drawdown of powers for Bougainville. The meeting is normally chaired by the ABG President and the PNG Government Prime Minister.

- Überweisung der 15 Mio Kina ans ABG (Ergebnisse für diese Woche erwartet)
- JSB Meeting
- NEC Meeting
- Rio Tinto möchte seine Pangunamine besichtigen!!! :-)))))))))))))))
- ESBC Präsident trifft sich mit Vertretern von Rio Tinto/Peter Taylor in London- 19./20.09.

Abgerundet wird das ganze mit einem neuen Präsidenten in PNG, der für positiven Schwung sorgen kann...

UNBEKNOWN to the rest of the world, there was a very high-level visit to the ramshackle Panguna Mine in Bougainville in Papua New Guinea recently.

Outside of Escondida and Grasberg, Panguna remains the largest copper ore body in the Pacific region. It has been closed since 1987 following a landowner uprising which led to civil war on the rich PNG island.

The mine once accounted for more than half of PNG's GDP, the other half being Australian aid.

Our spies report that a Rio director was accompanied by Bougainville Copper Ltd managing director Peter Taylor and a senior member of AusAid, in a two-day, low-key inspection of the mine.

im letzten Jahr war die Stellung der LOs nicht so klar wie heute.
Bleibt zu hoffen, dass der längst überfällige Body gebildet werden kann und der neue PM die Sache durchsinkt.
Vielleicht hat er sich ja gleich 400.000stck nach seinem antritt gesichert?!
denn diese order und deren Bedienung war sicher kein Zufall...

So ganz überrascht mich das nicht.

Man darf nicht vergessen dass O´Neill jetzt erst 6 Wochen PM ist u. dass quasi das halbe Parlament ausgetauscht wurde. Die Somare Anhänger, welche jetzt ihren Stuhl räumen mussten,dürften wohl kaum ihren Job freudig an ihre Nachfolger übergeben haben.Dabei kann die Planung schon mal etwas ins Schlingern geraten.Aber auch das ist ja nix neues ;-)))))))))))
