Smartrac N.V. develops, manufactures, and supplies radio frequency identification (RFID) components principally in Europe, Asia, North America, and Latin America. The company has four business units: eID, Cards, Industry and Logistics, and Tickets and Labels. The eID business unit offers products for personal electronic identity documents issued by governments, such as e-passports, national e-ID cards, electronic drivers' licenses, and electronic Visa. The Cards business unit comprises card inlays for transport, access, e-payment, and active card applications. This segment serves card manufacturers. The Industry and Logistics business unit covers RFID tags for fields of applications, such as automotive, animal identification, logistics, industrial, laundry, medical, and entry identification. The Tickets and Labels business unit covers RFID inlays that cater to tickets and label converters; and includes fields of application, such as media management for libraries, ticketing for mass transit, apparel tracking, vehicle identification, airline luggage, pharmaceuticals, and toll applications. The company was founded in 2000 and is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
