Montezuma Mining Company (ASX: MZM) has received some very strong support from investors in recent weeks, with the share price rallying to $0.71 intra-day yesterday (Tuesday 8 November), from $0.30 a little over a week earlier on Monday 31 October.
The 137% share spike attracted attention from the ASX, which issued Montezuma a price and volume query.
Montezuma replied to the ASX that the company is not aware of any market sensitive information that has not been released to the market, and stated:
'As released on 1 November 2011, early assay results from the recently completed reverse circulation drilling program at the company’s 100% owned Butcherbird Copper Project returned outstanding copper results.'
These results included the broad 47 metres at 1.81% copper from 113 metres, which included the stunning high grade intercept of 6 metres at 6.08% copper and 631 parts per million cobalt.
What is so significant about the intersection is that it was discovered at the very start of the recent drilling campaign, with assays still pending for 17 of the 19 hole program - which covered around 2700 metres.
Providing a further prospectivity boost to the project, previously completed IP, aeromagnetic and EM surveys highlight numerous copper/cobalt targets over 6 kilometres of strike - which remains open.

fände ich besser, dann kann man dieses Spiel öfter spielen und so lange die Ergebnisse gut sind wird das dann öffter honoriert.
wenn die ergebnisse auch nur annähernd das erreichen was vermutet wird, oh mannn.. hab lang genug gewartet und ordentlich gesammelt. ne zweite sandfire im depot zu haben wäre der hammer!! abwarten was kommt, schätze aber mal das kann nur gut werden sonst hätte mzm auch nicht schon in den ersten beiden bohrlöchern so ordentlich getroffen. geduld und einfach mal wegschauen lohnt sich also doch. es kann ja nur noch besser werden und von mir bekommt keiner auch nur ein keines stück ;-) die halte ich mind. noch ein jahr :-)

Universal Coal plc (ASX:UNV) has received all large diameter drill sample analysis and test work for Berenice-Cygnus coking coal project. The results provide a better understanding of the type and quality of coking coal present at the project, indicating that coking coal product yields in the practical mining situation may be significantly higher than previously indicated. The project currently hosts a JORC compliant coal resource of 1.325 billion tonnes.

Previous and current intersections of continuous copper mineralisation at Butcherbird are starting to reveal the huge copper potential of the project with broad mineralisation that appears to increase in grade at depth.
Montezuma Mining Company (ASX: MZM) is continuing its impressive run of copper hits with strong widths and grade at the Butcherbird Copper Project with the second round of assays from reverse circulation drilling extending the mineralisation and increasing the grade.
The company intersected a total of 61 metres of continuous copper mineralisation at 1.96% copper and 228 parts per million cobalt from 113 metres.
This follows previously announced intercepts of 47 metres at 1.81% copper from 113 metres, which includes a stunning high grade intercept of 6 metres at 6.08% copper and 631 parts per million cobalt.
Managing director Justin Brown commented "It's a fantastic intersection and obviously we’ve only got limited drilling so it’s hard to know how big it’s going to get, but certainly with grades and widths of that sort of tenor it’s pretty exciting."
Importantly, the mineralisation remains open, ending in 0.46% copper. Drilling about 300 metres along strike from the discovery hole returned 83 metres at 0.43% copper from 118 metres including 3 metres at 4.15% copper.
A further boost to the project is the fact that the results for the last 14 metres of the hole were generally of a higher tenor, averaging 2.44% copper, increasing the overall average grade of the discovery intersection.

Montezuma Mining Company (ASX: MZM) has been grabbing some market attention of late, and has this morning been granted a trading halt by the ASX pending the release of an announcement on the Butcherbird project, with the company's shares placed in pre-open.
Montezuma Mining has not yet elaborated on what the announcement relates to, but the company has recently been delivering some stunning intercepts from the project.
From the current reverse circulation drilling campaign highlights include 61 metres at 1.96% copper and 228 parts per million cobalt from 113 metres, and 47 metres at 1.81% copper from 113 metres, which includes 6 metres at 6.08% copper and 631 parts per million cobalt.
The market reaction to the copper results is that the stock spiked to $0.80 intra-day earlier in the month, almost three times the sub $0.30 price from October. The company last traded at $0.57 before the halt - which will last until the earlier of the announcement being made to the market, or the opening of trade on Wednesday 30 November.
