Online local media company, Local Corporation, has managed to achieve 1 billion ad impressions in the last month on 2011. This tally includes ads displayed at the Local.com site as well as the more than 1,000 syndicated sites served by Local.
Local Corporation was able to reach this impressive number by using its new network for display ads, which enables advertisements on third-party publisher sites. In November of 2011, Local Corporation launched a cloud-based solution to enable the creation and display of rich media ads. The solution from Rovion called RAMP incorporates local product data using Krillion.
Ad agencies can now track the display of ads in the online and mobile spaces and deliver ads appropriately using a single tag for the ads. This enables ad agencies to more effectively monitor the efficacy of their ads and fine-tune campaigns.
“Consumer reach continues to be a key performance indicator for our business. We are expanding our display business to provide us with increased reach to online consumers,” said Michael Sawtell, the president and COO of Local Corporation. “This allows us to provide further value to our direct subscription advertisers as well as our ad partners. Display represents approximately 10 percent of our overall revenue and is one of the fastest growing areas of our business.”
As local ads are more likely to help small and medium businesses increase footfalls, this is a vital area for advertisers. Studies by BIA/Kelsey indicate that local display ads that now account for 20 percent of total display ads will increase their share to 30 percent by 2015, accounting for $4.9 billion.
