China 2007 auto output, sales both seen at record 9 mln units - Xinhua | 09 Sep 2007 | 05:06 AM ET
BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China's auto output and sales are both expected to hit a record 9 mln units this year, the official Xinhua news agency reported, citing Zhang Xiaoyu, vice president of the China Machinery Industry Federation.
Xinhua said the new output and sales projections, up from previous forecasts of 8.5 mln, would enable China to reach its auto production and sales targets for 2006-2010 three years ahead of schedule.
Last year China surpassed Japan to become the world's No. 2 auto market, with total sales of 7.2 mln vehicles and output of 7.3 mln, according to Xinhua. xfnlj/xfntm COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2007. All rights reserved.
