Intel estimates lowered at Salomon (INTC, AMD) by Emily Church
Salomon Smith Barney says "channel checks" show that Intel Corp.'s (INTC) average processor contract price may be lower than SSB anticipated. Analyst Jonathan Joseph told clients he's lowering his revenue forecast for the current quarter to $6.24 billion, down from $6.64 billion and the earnings estimate for the third quarter to 8 cents a share from 11 cents and to 47 cents a share for 2001, down from 54 cents. "Expectations for a meaningful Back to School selling season are rapidly fading in the personal computer component business," he said. Also on the overnight, Lehman Brothers predicted more pricing pressure in the industry impacting Intel and AMD (AMD). See 5:27 a.m. Eastern pulse.
