PaperClick For Cell Phones™
Exciting New Support For Camera-Phones
NeoMedia has recently announced a PaperClick For Cell Phones for cellular telephones that have cameras. With PaperClick For Cell Phones, a user only needs to take a picture of a UPC code, EAN code or PaperClick code, and the PaperClick For Cell Phones software automatically decodes the barcode and takes the user directly to the associated web site using the phone's built-in web browser.
This system is vaguely similar to C-Mode,. In Japan, you can purchase a Coke by sending a text message to a number, which will deduct the cost from your mobile account and return an MMS with a 3D bar code. Hold that bar code up to a scanner on the Coke machine and out comes your cold soda.
The first commercially-available version of PaperClick For Cell Phones will be for the Nokia™ Model 3650 cell phone. This phone is part of Nokia's Series 60 product family, and is implemented using the Symbian OS™. This version of PaperClick for Cell Phones will be available in the fourth quarter of 2003. Versions for other Nokia Series 60 phones, and on cell phones from other manufacturers, are expected in the first quarter of 2004.
For cell phones without cameras, but equipped with wireless web browsers, NeoMedia continues to support PaperClick For WAP™.
MaxiCode Encoder
MaxiCode is a two-dimensional symbology which can encode about 100 characters of data in an area of one square inch. Within this small space are two MaxiCode components: black and white hexagons that pack information in two directions, and a target-like central pattern that allows the symbol to be easily located at high speeds. One of MaxiCode's key features is that it can be located and read at high speeds in a large field of view. As a result, it has been adopted as the standard symbology for high-speed sortation by the United Parcel Service (UPS).

We think they will be selling at much higher prices!****
