ISM Mfg Index
Consensus 55.0 %

Consensus Notes
The market consensus shows that the ISM manufacturing index should decrease slightly to 55.0 in July from a level of 56.2 in June. Keep in mind that any level above 50 percent means that the manufacturing sector is still expanding. In this environment, though, a decrease in the index could have a negative impact on psychology. (Forecast range: 53.0 to 56.0)
The ISM manufacturing index (formerly known as the NAPM Survey) is constructed so that any level at 50 or above signifies growth in the manufacturing sector. A level above 43 or so, but below 50, indicates that the U.S. economy is still growing even though the manufacturing sector is contracting. Any level below 43 indicates that the economy is in recession.
