Presales for Canada-Germany treaty copro
Canadian distributor Mind`s Eye International and H5B5 Media of Munich have scored a pair of presales - one German, one UK - for their new $22m sci-fi coproduction.
ProSieben (Germany) and The Sci-Fi Channel (UK) have both prebought the (22x60`) sfx-laden fantasy drama series Ice Planet, with advanced negotiations currently underway to secure a Canadian broadcast licence.
Directed by Rick Kolbe (Star Trek), in conjunction with VFX supervisor John Schlag and the H5B5`s Circles & Lines graphics department, the series opens with a devastating attack on Earth. A group of survivors escapes to a desolate, frozen planet that holds the key to a secret that could help save mankind. Wes Studi and Sab Shimono star.
The series will go into production in the autumn of 2002 at a brand new state of the art studio in Minds Eye’s hometown of Regina Saskatchewan. CGI and other visual effects will be produced out of Germany.
