DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2001--Delta Petroleum Corporation
(``Delta``)(NasdaqPTR - news; Frankfurt Stock ExchangePE) has closed on the purchase of a
producing gas property in Eddy County, New Mexico from Saga Petroleum Corp.
This transaction was previously announced on December 22, 2000. Delta paid $2,100,000 in
cash and
181,269 shares of its restricted common stock for the property.
Additionally, Delta has budgeted for $3,000,000 in capital expenditures during calendar 2001.
The
company will be drilling new wells on its East Carlsbad Field leases beginning this week and
will
continue its participation in wells being drilled offshore California.
The Company also recently purchased a 50% working interest and operations under
approximately
52,000 acres of leasehold in Harding and Butte Counties, South Dakota. The Company plans to
drill the
initial test wells in March of this year to evaluate the project`s shallow gas potential. The project
acreage is in close proximity to producing fields and to existing pipelines.
