#3 ALSTOM WINS MAJOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CONTRACT FOR CST
#3 This confirms the company's position as a major supplier of turnkey electrical systems for the blast furnace market in Brazil
ALSTOM is supplying the complete electrical, automation and instrumentation systems for the Blast Furnace
#3 of CST- Companhia Siderúrgica de Tubarão, via the European Consortium which consists of the VAI, Ferrostaal and Paul Wurth companies.
Recently signed with VAI and Ferrostaal, the contracts total R$60 million (16.949 Euros) , and include the supply of electrical equipment, automation, instrumentation and process control, as well as engineering, erection, commissioning, training, tests, start-up, technical assistance, computers, software, drives and auxiliaries systems, as well as the complete installation. When Blast Furnace
#3 is in full production,, it will be able to produce almost 3 million tons of pig iron per year (the main component of steel production) . ALSTOM's equipment will provide such advantages as the increased availability of control equipment, standardization of components, easier maintenance and a man-machine interface which is more user-friendly.
