Perlos Corporation's Board of Directors has today appointed Matti Virtanen as new President and CEO of Perlos beginning December 1, 2006. Perlos and its current CEO Isto Hantila have agreed that Isto Hantila will leave the company. Virtanen has over 20 years experience in managing global ICT companies. In addition to his background in Nokia he has, among other positions, been a member of the management team of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Services division of Compaq Computer Corporation in the USA as well as Vice President and Managing Director of Hewlett Packard ISE GmbH responsible for HP's operations in 108 countries through 35 subsidiaries. Virtanen has also gained experience in Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) business as Senior Vice President and President EMEA in Solectron Corporation having been in charge of its operations in Europe, Middle-East and Africa. He joins Perlos from his position as Managing Partner of his own executive consulting company. Matti is 48 years old and holds a Masters of Science degree in Engineering. BenQ announced yesterday that its German subsidiary BenQ Mobile GmbH & CO OHG is considering filing for insolvency protection. The company also announced that other subsidiaries in Brazil and other locations are reviewing their financial position. According to the announcement BenQ will continue its mobile phone manufacturing operations in Asia. BenQ is a significant customer to Perlos and a major part of the sales is to BenQ Mobile GmbH & Co OHG. Perlos estimates that the risk exposure regarding account receivables and inventories originating from the business with the German subsidiary amounts to approximately EUR 30 million. Investigations regarding other risks related to the business relationship are ongoing. Perlos has initiated actions to limit the risks and it will start investigations for adjusting operations. Perlos' expected sales to BenQ Mobile GmbH & Co OHG during the fourth quarter amounted to in excess of EUR 20 million.
