Cable & Wireless HKT (0008), Hong Kong's dominant phone company, said the High Court approved its merger with Pacific Century CyberWorks (1186).
The merger is expected to become effective on Aug. 17.
"This is an important milestone in our growth but is just one of many to come," said Linus Cheung, chief executive of HKT. "The opportunities are vast and we intend to explore them all."
HKT shares will be last traded in Hong Kong on Aug. 8 and become suspended from Aug. 9. The company will officially be delisted on Aug. 17.
