NEW YORK (AFX) -- Analyst Coralie Tornier Witter at Goldman Sachs said she
expects McDonald's to name President and Chief Operating Officer Charlie Bell
as successor to the company's chairman and CEO Jim Cantalupo, who died earlier
today, apparently of a heart attack. In a note to clients, the analyst said
McDonald's has a "deep bench," which includes Chief Finance Officer Matt Paull &
President of the U.S. operations Mike Roberts. "Furthermore, Mr.Bell started
his career as a MCD crew member, and is credible with franchisees," she said.
"While this is a blow for the company, we think MCD's turnaround is on track,
and think the stock will ultimately rebound over time with results."
Shares were last down 2.8 percent at $26.69.
