Moynihan Fights Fires at BofA Amid Book-Value Doubts

Jan. 4 [2011] (Bloomberg) -- Brian T. Moynihan spent his first year as Bank of America Corp.’s chief executive officer putting out fires smoldering from the financial crisis. In 2011, he’ll do it all over again.

Since succeeding Kenneth D. LEWIS on Jan. 1, 2010, MOYNIHAN, 51, has struggled to stanch loan losses and a surge of litigation at the biggest U.S. lender while trying to mend relations with customers, regulators and investors. He paid $2.8 billion last week to government-owned companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to settle claims the bank sold them defective mortgages, a major step toward resolving liabilities taken on with the 2008 purchase of Countrywide Financial Corp.

“Brian’s got his hands totally full dealing with the internal issues and the external focus on some of the problems of the company,” Stephen A. Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone Group LP, the world’s biggest buyout firm, said in an interview. “He is in firefighter mode, dealing with fires that will be contained but need attention.”

A year ago, Moynihan pledged to improve customer service and assigned more than 26,000 employees to help delinquent homeowners. By last month, at least two states sued, claiming the bank foreclosed on people enrolled in loan-modification programs. Moynihan supported the Obama administration’s push to protect consumers, only to see new regulations blow an estimated $4 billion hole in annual revenue. When he told investors Dec. 7 the dividend may be restored in 2011, the shares, instead of jumping, slid by 7 cents.

“Moynihan needs to win the confidence of the markets, which he obviously doesn’t have now,” said Marty MOSBY, a Nashville, Tennessee-based analyst at GUGGENHEIM Securities LLC, which manages more than $100 billion, including 1.9 million Bank of America shares. “If he doesn’t do well in 2011, it will be hard to change that perception.”...

3 Cent....naja, hab mich innerlich eh schon mit dem Totalverlust abgefunden. Zum Glück hab ich mit der BVB Aktie Gewinn gemacht und diesen Verlust mehr als ausgeglichen! ^^ Also kann ich entspannt zusehen, was geschieht....vielleicht ja doch noch ein Wunder!

Lehman Amends Plan to Repay Creditors

"NEW YORK—Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. late Tuesday night unveiled details of a new plan to distribute its assets, a proposal that would give creditors a better recovery than the investment bank's original plan disclosed last April.

In a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan, Lehman said creditors holding senior unsecured claims against Lehman would recover 21.4% under the new plan, up from 14.7%. Those creditors must vote for the plan to get their recovery. Creditors of several Lehman subsidiaries may see even better improvements.

General unsecured creditors of the company's commercial paper unit can expect to recover just under 51 cents on the dollar, up from a range of between 29 cents and 44 cents on the dollar in the April 2010 plan.

Unsecured creditors of the firm's commodities business will recover about 50 cents on the dollar, up from a range of about 26 to 27 cents.

Unsecured creditors of Lehman's special finance unit, the heart of much of Lehman's derivatives business, can expect to recover somewhere about 22 cents on the dollar, nearly unchanged from a prior range of between 22 cents to 24 cents on the dollar.

The amended plan, which Lehman President and Chief Operating Officer John Suckow earlier this month said involves "many architects," handles Lehman as 23 different subsidiaries that will pay creditors back from their distinct pools of assets, like its original plan filed in April. Key creditors, including a group of bondholders that filed a competing plan last month, had argued that Lehman should be treated as a single entity"...

bin momentan ziemlich skeptisch was Lehman angeht, es bleibt die Hoffnung auf einen Rebound, woher der kommen soll frag ich mich allerdings schon...

Momentan wird hier wahrscheinlich nichts passieren und wenn man dann zu Ambac oder Freddie und Fannie schaut kommt mir die Galle hoch...wir brauchen endlich wieder mal ein positives Signal, um hier nochmal an Höhen aus vergangenem März heran zu kommen...

da werden mal kurz 16 MRD an forderungen zurückgewiessen und NICHTS passiert mit dem kurs. ich frage mich, was für news das sein müssten. irgendwelche aussagen die z.b. "back to buisness" enthalten. sehr suspekt .....

die aktie ist im moment einfach im koma!
seitdem letzten massiven kursanstieg im märz letzten jahres ist diese aktie immer nur in den keller marschiert und immer weniger beachten lehman derzeit was auch nicht so verwunderlich ist. eigentlich wäre es schon längst mal wieder an der zeit aber es wird der zeitpunkt kommen - mit sicherheit! entweder der finale schlusszock vor dem totalabsturz oder vielleicht auch der rebound.

es braucht nur eine kleine aber signifikate nachricht, dann explodiert das teil. man kennt das auch von anderen aktien mit geringem handelsvolumen.

es wäre mir ein besonderes anliegen wenn die shorties mal so richtig brennen würden :-) und zwar lichterloh!!!

... sollte sich noch etwas tun? Der Restrukturierungsplan wird in den nächsten Monaten durchgewunken, und egal, ob man am Ende bei einem A:L Verhältnis 1:5 oder 1:4 landet - es bleibt kein Geld übrig, die Aktie wird wertlos ausgebucht.

Und die Shorties (die ggf. für manchen Kursschub in der Vergangenheit verantwortlich waren) haben ihre offenen Positionen inzwischen auch geschlossen.

Kurzum: Meiner Ansicht nach geht es jetzt geradewegs auf die 0 zu.
