George Forrest, his son Malta, and Stephen Oke have resigned from Katanga Mining’s board after Glencore tightened its grip on the troubled copper and cobalt miner. As part of Glencore’s rescue plan, Katanga has issued more than 492 million shares to Glencore and subsidiary Jangleglade Ltd, handing them a joint stake of 78.1%. The rights issue, which Katanga described as an early liquidity closing, raised gross proceeds of $172 million, of which the company used $32.5 million on Thursday to repay a bridge loan. The share issue is part of a wider $250 million share offering announced at the end of April. Existing shareholders have until June 26 to exercise their rights...

TONY EASTLEY: To a special investigation of the company behind Xstrata, the global mining giant bidding for the nickel, copper and uranium company, WMC Resources.

Xstrata's $8-billion takeover bid for WMC is being undermined by the reputation of its controlling shareholder, the secretive Swiss commodities trader Glencore.

Last year, a CIA report raised allegations that Glencore paid millions in illegal kickbacks to Saddam Hussein's regime.

Glencore was founded by a notorious fugitive from US justice - a man facing jail for tax fraud, racketeering, and named as an arms trader, before being mysteriously pardoned by former US President Bill Clinton.

STEPHEN LONG: Mention Xstrata and the name Glencore soon follows. Xstrata was once a subsidiary of Glencore, and Glencore now has a 40 per cent interest in Xstrata. The two companies share a common chairman, Willy Strothotte.

Glencore's history reads like a spy novel.

From its foundation 31 years ago, the Swiss commodities trader has been accused of illegal dealings with rogue states: apartheid South Africa, Communist Russia, Iran, and Iraq under Saddam Hussein.

Just five months ago, the CIA released a comprehensive report on the financing of Saddam Hussein's regime.

It cites detailed records held by Iraq's state run oil monopoly, SOMO, which say Glencore paid more than US $3.2-million in illegal kickbacks to obtain oil in violation of sanctions imposed by the United Nations.

Fazit: Ohne Worte ...

warum Industry Canada den Deal im letzten Moment vereitelt hat.Je mehr man die Historie und
Hintergründe von GFI unter die Lupe nimmt,je mehr an undurchsichtigen Machenschaften kommen
da wahrscheinlich ans Licht.Ich glaube inzwischen,dass Forsys von der Entwicklung im letzten August
überrascht wurde.Warum hat man jedoch bei einem Deal dieser Grössenordnung seinen Geschäftspartner nicht
auf Herz und Nieren geprüft!Diesen Vorwurf muss sich das Management von Forsys gefallen lassen.
Aber - Blick nach vorne,der Kurs bewegt sich wieder auf drei Euro und wird auch bald wieder in normalen
Bereichen sich bewegen.Nur  meine Meinung.

Hallo,
kann jemand rausfinden ob RP Capital UK  auch Forsys shares gesammelt hat. Ich kann mich ungenau erinnern,
dass  neben Leo  noch ein anderer Fond  mit grossen Käufen aufgefallen ist, weiss aber nicht mehr genau wo ich das gelesen habe.

Fazit: CIBC und Merrill Lynch unterstützen Leo, indem sie den Kurs in der gewünschten Range halten. Für mich eindeutig, dass Forsys und Leo Hand in Hand gehen. Leo sammelt in Abstimmung mit Forsys.

Fazit 1: hoffentlich sind die 19,9% bald voll;

Fazit 2: könnte ja wirklich sein;

M.E. wäre der Kurs ohne Leo längst ins Bodenlose gefallen. Und niemand weiß, welches Spiel dieses Mal im Hintergrund gespielt wird. Na ja, ich hab nicht mehr so viele Shares und warte einfach ab, bis das Geheimnis gelüftet wird.

INVESTMENT MANAGER ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF ADDITIONAL SHARES OF FORSYS METALS CORP.

As at Jan. 28, 2010, funds of which Leo Fund Managers Limited is the investment manager and has investment-making powers acquired an additional 1,606,000 common shares of Forsys Metals Corp. through open market purchases on the Toronto Stock Exchange since Nov. 26, 2009, at prices ranging from $3.79 to $4.72. Such purchases represent an additional 2.023 per cent of the outstanding Forsys shares. Combined with the Forsys shares previously held by the funds, Leo Fund now has control or direction over a total of 12,551,000 Forsys shares, representing approximately 15.88 per cent of the total issued and outstanding Forsys shares.

deutet darauf hin,dass die "Einkaufstour" noch nicht abgeschlossen ist.Nach den letzten Zahlen fehlen Leo nur noch ca.3 % des Aktienvolumens ,um auf die gewünschte  Anzahl der Shares zu kommen.Mal sehen,ob und wann die nächsten Neuigkeiten veröffentlicht werden,die von allen erwartet werden.Dann wird der Kurs sich von der jetzigen Starre lösen und nach oben wandern.Nur meine Meinung.

Interessante These! Wenn also (wie z.B. im canadian insider nachzuverfolgen) durchschnittlich pro Woche etwa 70.000 Stück von LEO gesammelt werden, dauert es rechnerisch etwa noch 1/2 Jahr, bis die fehlenden 3% zusammengekommen sind. Eine lange Zeit!! M.E. muß sich da etwas Gravierendes innerhalb der nächsten 3 Monate abzeichnen, zumal es langsam Zeit wird, an die Produktion zu denken.

wir sprechen wie meistens über vermutungen ...

wenn leo fund alleine für einen bestimmten interessenten sammelt, dann würde bis 19,9% forsys noch nicht übernommen sein. folgt man diesem gedankengang so fehlen noch ziemlich genau 4%. leo sammelt pro monat ca. 1% und somit würde es bei dieser zukaufstrategie noch 4 monate dauern bis leo sein plansoll erfüllt hätte.

fazit 1: wir wissen nicht, wieviele parteien eigentlich sammeln.

fazit 2: genauso könnten für leo oder dessen auftraggeber mehrere banken/funds zukaufen (keine überschreitung der 10% und eventuell außerbörsliche transaktionen).

fazit 3: alles im dunkeln wie bisher !

so wie Modi es beschrieben hat ,so habe ich das gemeint,bezogen auf die wahrscheinlich von Leo angestrebten
19,9 %.Ich glaube aber auch,dass derzeit mehrere Aufkäufer am Markt sind,wie die ausserbörsliche Transaktionen
zeigen und vielleicht arbeiten alle auf ein gemeinsames Ziel unter verschiedenen Namen hin.Auf jeden Fall,das zeigt auch die eingeschlafene Informationspolitik von Forsys,dass in Absprache da etwas hinter den Kulissen läuft.Mit keinem Wort wird auch GFI mehr erwähnt,was das finanzielle Agreement betrifft.
Für mich sind die Karten schon verteilt und es wird im Laufe des ersten Halbjahres eine Veröffentlichung geben,welche die uns noch nicht bekannten Zusammenhänge verifiziert.Der Kurs wird stabil,aber unten gehalten bis zum Tag X ,wenn das Einsammeln der Shares beendet ist.
Natürlich stellt sich für mich die Frage,jetzt auszusteigen oder noch abzuwarten,wie sich nach Abschluss des Einsammelns der Kurs entwickelt.Das Risiko,dass Forsays noch einmal nach unten driftet halte ich für gering.Es stellt sich lediglich die Frage,ob ich nicht morgen das Forsys Anlagevolumen in  z.B. die Telekom investiere,um im Mai einen kleinen Aktiengewinn plus 8 % Dividende kassiere.Doch wer kennt schon die richtige Anlageentscheidung im Voraus und ich bin jetzt schon so lange in Forsys investiert,dass ich im Halten zumindest für die nächsten 4 Monate die lukrativere Möglichkeit sehe.Nur meine Meinung.

" RP Explorer Master Fund/RP MEF , is a London-based hedge fund, managed by RP Capital Partners Cayman Islands Limited . In May 2007, along with Glencore International AG , it set up an SPV "special purpose vehicle", along with three highly dubious private shareholders (Barry Steinmetz, the Gertner family and Dan Gertler), between them owning 72% of Nikanor PLC , in an attempt to buy out the company.
Nikanor PLC has a lease (though this is currently under review by the government of DRC Congo for alleged licence infringements) on what could be one of the he richest copper-cobalt deposits in Africa. A few months later, RP EMF stated that it was strongly opposed to a bid by a company called Camec (see Capital Group Companies ), to buy out Katanga Mining Limited - another suspect player in DR Congo, in which RP EMF had a major (15.72%) shareholding. RP EMF believed that "this unsolicited offer of Camec's shares undervalues the potential of Katanga and the quality of its assets"
The takeover was supported by a notorious 67-year-old Belgian national, George Forrest (of the Forrest Group ) – who himself held 24% of Katanga Mining [FT 8/11/2007].
The bid was probably also supported by Glencore, which had an exclusive contract to market the output from both Nikanor and Katanga's mines. An enlarged Katanga Mining could, according to the Financial Times, "become Africa's largest copper producer by 2011" - as well as "a future target for a big group such as the acquisitive Xstrata , which is 40 per cent-owned by Glencore." und die Spannung und riecht das entweichende Gas vor der Explosion. Hoffen wir nur, dass es Lachgas und kein CS (Kotzgas) ist!
Im Ernst: Es wird immer deutlicher, dass da größere Mächte (Kapital und Politik) seit längerer Zeit im Spiel sind. Dass Forrest den Happen nicht schlucken konnte/durfte, ist jetzt klar. Doch was folgt dem?
Heute schon wieder in kurzer Zeit über 240.000 Stück. Man sieht, dass der Kurs nervös tänzelt und steigen möchte, doch die vielen arrangierten 100er Trades halten das "HB-Männchen" am Boden.
Mich irritiert in der verwirrten und undurchdringbaren Gedankenwelt um Forsys nur eines: Wenn forsys so "heiß" und begehrt und zukunftsträchtig ist, warum ist da nicht längst ein vernünftiges Angebot gekommen - Schluß-aus! So richtig "Schlange" stehen da die Chinesen, Koreaner etc. wohl doch nicht?!

Bob Buchan ist seit 2009 im Forsys Vorstand. Er hat Kinross Gold aufgebaut und  u.a.  zusammen mit Forrest Katanga Mining gemanaged. Seine Anteile bei Katanga wurden ohne sein Wissen von RP Capital bzw Gertlers Nikomar  aufgekauft. RP Capital wurde angebl. nur gegründet um Katanga zu übernehmen.  Wenn man  über die Geschichte die damals bei Katanga abgelaufen ist anfängt zu recherchieren  erfährt man grausliches und sieht auch gew. Parallelen  zu dem jetzigen Geschehen  um Forsys .   Ev. war Forrest auch der gelinkte bei der Katanga Geschichte, er ist auf jeden Fall dort raus und der Laden gehört jetzt zum g.T. Glencore die auch hinter RP Capital stecken. Was hat das nun aber nun mit Forsys zu tun?

 

Fazit :  Wir haben 2 Akteure aus der Katanga Mining Geschichte  Forrest und Bob Buchan (den ich als sehr integer einschätze)     Wir  haben eine nicht uninterressante Mine mit der Brisanz das es sich um eine Uranmine handelt, und wir haben einen Rohstoffgiganten  der  auch schon mal Interresse an einer Uranmine  bekundete. Was aber nicht unbedingt bedeutet dass dieser hinter Leo steckt.

Über Leo was rauszukriegen ist schwierig. Bei Leonardo Capital Management (sowas wie Muttertrust der Fonds) ist eine Helen Forrest als Director genannt. Das kann aber reiner Zufall sein. Ausserdem ist der trust im Kanton Tessin eingetragen. Ich hab eine PDF Kopie des Konstrukts dieses Fonds , funktioniert aber nicht hier hochzuladen. Kann auch den Link im Netz nicht mehr finden.

   Interressant ist auch , dass Bob Buchan bei Kalahari Extract mit dabei ist. Einem Uran Nachbar von Forsys in Namibia. Ausserdem arbeitet er für Polyus.   Sein Mitstreiter dort ist  M.Prokorow , einer der legendären russ. Oligarchen. ( Rusal,Polyus Gold früher auch  Norilsk Nickel)  Bei Rusal  ist bekanntlich auch Glencore dicke angagiert.
