Shanghai, July 9 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Automobile Co Ltd (DFAC), a light commercial vehicle producer under Dongfeng Motor Corp, said yesterday that it sold nearly 1.5 billion vehicles in the first half of this year, a 56.36% increase from a year earlier.
In June, the company produced 26,889 vehicles and sold 28,817 units, a comparatively high growth over the same period last year, the company reported.
"Dongfeng Auto's annual vehicle sales target for 2010 is 261,000 units, and we have accomplished 56.85% of it in the first six months. While the full-year target for our engines is 15,866 sets and we have achieved 75.14% of it over the same period," a relevant source said yesterday.
Besides, Dongfeng Yulon, a joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Taiwan's Yulon Motor, and Zhengzhou Nissan, a light vehicle joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Nissan, both posted strong sales in the first half of the year.
Dongfeng-Yulong saw sales skyrocket 80% to 65,000 units in the first six months, and Zhengzhou Nissan recorded a robust 70.23% growth, with sales reaching 42,068 units thanks to its self-developed pure electric passenger cars Rui qi and Yu xuan, the Oting SUV, the Shuaike MPV and the NV200, a typical clean diesel vehicle.
Additionally, Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co, a joint venture between Cummins Inc. and Dongfeng Motor, boosted its engine sales to 118,026 sets, an increase of 137.66% in the first half of the year."
