Wednesday January 15, 6:44 am ET
WASHINGTON, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Fannie Mae (NYSE:FNM - News) on Wednesday
said its quarterly earnings fell more than 50 percent as options it uses to protect itself
from interest rate swings lost value.
The largest home financing company, which benefits from links to the U.S. government,
said its fourth-quarter net income fell to $952 million, or 94 cents per share, from $1.97
billion, or $1.92 per share, a year earlier.
The company also said Wall Street estimates for 2003 seemed reasonable.
