"Q&A interview with BonTerra Resources Inc. (V.BTR) President Mitchell Adam
How advanced are your gold projects? How close are you to production? What type of mining operations are you pursuing (e.g. open pit, etc.)? Any estimates as to the cash costs?
At this point in time BonTerra Resources has recently established itself as a company to watch in Canadian gold exploration after returning high grade gold intercepts from tis Eastern Extension property in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt of Quebec. The first phase of drilling for our gold properties totaled 1500 metres of core drilling. Drilling has now resumed with the goal of drilling up to three holes before Christmas.
In 2011 a NI 43-101 technical report will be done on the Eastern Extension and Urban-Barry projects. After this is filed and accepted the company will continue drilling and advancing the properties as recommended by the NI 43-101 technical report.
It is early to state the mining methods planned but there are two distinct characteristics of the gold mineralization that will influence this. The first is the gold is always in quartz vein zones (not in the surrounding rock). The second factor is the relatively surficial location of some drill intercepts to date. The likely scenario would be an open pit going underground at depth targeting the high grade gold in veins at depth.
What geometrics does your company use to come up with your potential tonnage and drill targets?
The Company bases its drill targets for these early formative phases of work entirely on historical exploration by Xemac Resources. Xemac Resources drilled the property between 1997 and 2001. The company BonTerra optioned the land from (Abitex Resources) also did a compilation of historical drill intercepts. We believe this information to be invaluable.
Once the three holes are done late this year (BA-10-08, BA-10-09 and BA-10-10) these new drill holes will also be inserted into Gemcom. In the future, the company will rely equally as much on Gemcom for drill planning. We are working closely with a well-established geological and mining consulting company based in Val d’Or, Quebec, Geologica. It is the intent to also put all the historical drill information, sampling and if possible geophysics into our developing 3D model of the deposit.
....
What else do your shareholders have to look forward to in the coming year?
BonTerra plans on having an active winter exploration season. This will include further drilling, a ground based magnetic survey for the Eastern Extension property and an IP survey conducted on targets of interest as identified by the magnetics. BonTerra Resources is always looking for additional properties of merit.
BonTerra expects a NI 43-101 technical report in the first half of January after assays are received for the three holes currently being drilled (BA-10-08, BA-10-09 & BA-10-10). Further drilling in the winter will be guided by the recommendations of the technical report. The company also plans on having a NI 43-101 compliant gold resource calculation done for the property once the winter drilling has been concluded. The resource calculation will be done in tandem with building a 3D model for the Eastern Extension.
