Olympus Pacific reports higher gold output
By Esmarie SWANEPOEL:
"PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX- and TSX-listed Olympus Pacific on Friday reported that its Bong Mieu gold processing plant, in Vietnam, had produced 9 310 oz during the September quarter.
This was up 13% from the 8 200 oz produced during the second quarter.
The production for the last four quarters stood at 35 000 oz, and recoveries have increased further, with the recovery of the two underground mines now averaging 84,8%.
The company said in a statement on Friday that the Phuoc Son ore was yielding 89% in the Bong Mieu plant, but higher recoveries were expected once the Phuoc Son plant was commissioned next year.
The Bong Mieu plant throughput was currently being sourced from Olympus Pacific’s two underground mines, namely Phuoc Son and Bong Mieu.
The company is positioned to expand gold production in Southeast Asia from its core properties and has established a production timeline that increases its yearly production to around 80 000 oz gold by the third quarter of 2011, and a production pipeline targeted at further expansion to some 300 000 oz by 2014"...
