Molecular Devices (MDCC) tumbled 58 percent after reporting late Monday first-quarter earnings well below expectations and warning on its second quarter. The company made 10 cents a share in the first quarter, less than the 20 cents that had been expected. In addition, the company said second-quarter earnings are now expected at 16 to 18 cents a share vs. the 27 cent-a-share profit that had been expected by First Call.

Als Kommentar aus der Firma so sinngemäß: Wegen der schwachen Wirtschaftslage hätten wohl einige Kunden angekündigte Bestellungen nicht umgesetzt.
