TriOil assembled about 36,000 net acres in the Lochend area with a drilling inventory of 150-200 net Cardium horizontal locations. The company currently produces about 1,250 boe/d with a 45% weighting to oil and plans to increase it to exit 2011 at 2,500 boe/d with an 80% weighting to oil. 75 percent of TOL’s 2011 drilling capital is being directed towards horizontal development of the Cardium light oil resource play at Lochend, Alberta.

Highlights

TriOil's Central and Western Lochend trend is yielding very strong Cardium results, with our first 3 slick water completions on this trend posting IP30 rates of approximately 326, 368 and 657 boe/d, IP 60 rates of 258, 315 and 512 boe/d and cumulative production of 23,400, 16,500 and 26,500 barrels of oil.

The Company's Dunvegan oil play at Kaybob is off to an impressive start. We are very pleased to report that our first Kaybob well has averaged 795 boe/d over its initial 30 days, with cumulative production over 24,000 barrels of oil in its initial 40 days of production. Our second well on the play (TOL operated; 55% working interest) tested at an average rate of 668 boe/d (95% oil) over its initial 3 days of testing.

Corporate production based on field estimates reached 1,950 boe/d (70% oil and natural gas liquids) in mid-December, in line with exit guidance....

Canaccord Commentary

 TriOil released an operational update last night highlighted by excellent new Dunvegan oil results and multiple type curve-beating Cardium production numbers. The highlight, in our opinion, was the 795 BOE/d IP30 rate of the company's initial Dunvegan success (30% w.i.) at Kaybob. The well is currently doing 475 BOE/d in its second month and has produced over 24,000 Bbls of oil to date. It has been followed up with a well testing 668 BOE/d (55% w.i.) over three days.This test rate is roughly a third of its predecessor, but given the deltaic geological interpretation of management's (see Figure 1 on the following page), we had no expectations that all future wells would be as high; and frankly a 668 BOE/d test is excellent, particularly in view of TriOil's 1,950 BOE/d exit rate....

We are reiterating our BUY rating and C$7.25 target price.

This remains based on a 5.5x 2013E EV/DACF multiple supplemented by .76 of risked Cardium upside....
