Landowners, the ABG, the PNG Government, investors and financiers must be transparent on their negotiations to reopen the Panguna Mine, and not rush it.
William Kareoton, of the lower tailings, said the ABG must let the landowner associations and people of Bougainville decided on who should operate the mine.
He said the tussle between the Portland House Group, RTG and BCL, must be clear as the Portland House Group is already paying wages (AU$608) to some ABG members and landowners
“Any developers, investors, financiers who are interested in reopening the mine must be willing to meet and compensate the legacy issues, and meet the K10 billion demand by the late Francis Ona, as proper consultation for Bougainville is vital and not only for the landowner associations and the ABG,” he said.
According to Bougainville News website, October 6, there is a struggle over who will run the mine between BCL, the previous operator now backed by the ABG, and PNG Government, and a consortium of Australian investors supported by the heads of landowners who own the mineral rights,” Mr Kareoton said.
“PNG has told airlines that Sydney businessman Ian de Renzie Duncan, who set up the consortium, is banned from entering the country until 2024, according to a Papua New Guinea government document reviewed by Reuter.
“The request for the ban was made by the Bougainville Government, three sources with knowledge of the document said.
“The consortium has also acknowledged for the first time that it is paying some landowners a monthly stipend, and has pulled in some big backers that have not previously been disclosed.
“They include Richard Hains, part of a billionaire Australian race-horse owning family which runs hedge fund Portland House Group.” Duncan, a former barrister with a background in mining law, heads an entity called Central Exploration that has a half share of the consortium.
“Duncan’s consortium has been paying money, described as a stipend, to some of the landowners, but denies this amount to bribery.
“We are really talking about people receiving a couple of thousand kina ($608) a month,” said Duncan, who added that the money helps the landowners to travel and find accommodation in towns where Panguna negotiations take place. “It’s not bribery, its business,” he said.

Plans to reopen one of the world's biggest copper mines, shut by a civil war on the Pacific Island of Bougainville in 1989, have run into trouble.

The quarter of a million people of Bougainville are tentatively scheduled to vote on independence from Papua New Guinea in June 2019, and revenue from the reopening of the Panguna mine is essential for the otherwise impoverished island to have any chance of flourishing if it becomes the world's newest nation.

Um Gottes Willen... ich hoffe, meinen Beitrag hattest du nicht als Kritik an dir und deinem Post verstanden! Als solche war er nämlich nicht gedacht ....

Inhaltlich finde ich die Reuters Meldung allerdings wenig erbaulich.  

... aber am allgemeinen Chaos und dem Widerstand in Teilen der Bevölkerung hat sich dennoch nichts zum Positiven hin verbessert.... alles Worthülsen ....

Kaligroup ein weiterer Anwärter für Panguna. Ich verliere langsam den Faden, wer hier überhaupt noch Ernst genommen werden kann. Ich gehe weiter davon aus, dass BCL das Rennen macht.

Meiner Überzeugung nach wird Panguna nur mit BCL eröffnet, denn BCL = ABG = PNG. Die Frage „mit wem“ stellt sich mir persönlich nicht. Die Frage ist „OB“ ...

Das sind alles nur Firmen, welche auf den Zug aufspringen und Anleger locken.
Am Ende werden die Firmen alle bei 0 stehen, so wie Morumbi usw.

der /aller Aktionäre angesprochen worden. Das Recht nämlich für die ungesetzlichen Vorkommnisse und ihre Auswirkungen sprich den erlittene Wertverlust bei Schließung (der bis dato profitabelen Mine) und in dem danach folgendem Zeitraum bis heute.in vollem Umfang entschädigt zu werden. Entschädigung durch diejenigen Akteure die diesen unseligen Weg damals gegangen sind. Von dem entstandenen Leid vor Ort in Respekt zu den Betroffenen gar nicht erst zu sprechen.
Es ist/grenzt schon an Altersstarrsinn und Tunnelblick sich heute hinzustellen und BCL NO zu fordern und sich durch bezahlte? claceure Rückhalt zu holen.

meiner Meinung nach hat nur BLC das Recht zur Betreibung der Mine da die Lizenz hierfür nach internationalem Recht besteht. Alle anderen Glücksritter würden nach internationalem Recht Klagen bis an den Krage kriegen. Das würde vermutlich ein Jahrzehnt an Ungewissheit der Rechtslage dauern. Somit sollte sich eigentlich keine Gesellschaft in die Abbaulizenz drängen.
Für die Unabhängigkeit von Bougainville ohne BLC wär dies ein tragisches Ereignis, da keine Rechtssicherheit bestünde und die UNABHÄNGIGKEIT ohne gesicherte finanzielle Grundlage begründet werden würde.
Warum sollte ABGB mit erheblichem aktienrechtlichem Anteil an BOC eine solchen Schritt wagen?
Entweder BOC oder keine Unabhängigkeit - meine Meinung !
Keine Unabhängigkeit von PNG ist natürlich auch ein Variante.
Aber wir sind leider weit weg von Bougainville und deren allgemeinen Absichten hierzu.
Hoffen wir auf eine zufriedenstellende Einigung.

PS: Bin schon seit 1986 bei BOC investiert. Ich dachte, zu meiner Pension vor etwa 7 Jahren an eine Eröffnung. Bin nun in Pension ....

Erwartung. Sehr gut. ;-))

Viel Optimismus ist wahrlich nicht zu erkennen.... naja, warum auch .... gibt ja nichts Positives aus PNG, was den Kurs mal beflügeln könnte. :-(

...sieh es mal so >>>eine außergewöhnliche Nachrichtenlage zur Zeit. Trotzdem ein relativ ausgeglichenes Verhältniss zwischen Angebot und Nachfrage in einer Range von 28 - 32.
Darüber hinaus das große Angebot bis 0,4 AU $ widerspiegelt doch eine Erwartung zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt. ;-)
