STEAG HamaTech wins head-to-head DVD performance comparison
The renowned German producer for pre-recorded media of CD and DVD formats, ODS
Optical Disc Service (ODS), Dassow, has awarded STEAG HamaTech an order for four
DVD systems and nine CD lines.
Under otherwise similar commercial conditions, the decision was made in favour
of STEAG HamaTech after the customer had tested the newly developed products
DVD2100 and DVD2200 against the corresponding systems of the competitor who has
so far been considered the benchmark.
It is the first performance comparison in which the new system generation by
STEAG HamaTech proved its performance over a period of several weeks under
production conditions. The DVD2200, designed especially for the DVD formats
5/9/10 clearly gained the victory on the basis of the technical criteria
compared. The system, which was successfully launched on the market by STEAG
HamaTech mid-year incorporates significant performance features which older
lines do not have. Apart from the high reliability of the DVD2200, it is worth
to mention the significant reduction in material consumption for bonding and the
performance of STEAG HamaTech's own scanner.
The order volume amounts to approximately EUR 4,5 million, with the scope not
including the injection moulding machines required for production. Furthermore,
the customer issued STEAG HamaTech with a further eight options for the purchase
of additional systems in 2002.
ODS has been established on the market for many years as a producer of pre-
recorded CDs and DVDs in Germany and is significantly increasing production
capacity due to the extension of its business.
