Globe/CP say Selectcore, iSign plan mobile ad scheme

The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that Selectcore and iSign Media Solutions Inc. have agreed to jointly equip North American retailers with technology that transmits advertising to wireless mobile devices near their stores. A Canadian Press dispatch to The Globe says iSign of Richmond Hill, Ont., says its agreement with Toronto's Selectcore aims to equip up to 7,000 convenience and grocery stores in Canada and the United States. iSign will embed its software and an antenna into Selectcore's Veriphone point-of-sale terminals. iSign estimates it has the ability to reach about 1,000 mobile devices near each of its installations. The companies estimate that a fully operational network has the potential to generate $10-million in revenue annually. Selectcore's share would be 80 per cent of revenue and iSign's would be 20 per cent.
