Wart noch ab, wenn es an der Nasdaq insgesamt wieder ordentlich nach unten geht, sind SCOC noch unter 8 Euro zu bekommen. Nach den bisherigen Meldungen ist hier keine Eile geboten, denn so schnell wird sich der Kurs diesmal nicht erholen.

First off let's point out that news late yesterday has network OS firm
Santa Cruz Operation (SCOC) warning of a earnings shortfall for 2Q,
based on what the UNIX and network operating system says was Y2K
slowdown in sales. As we've said before the company appears in
transition from UNIX to Linux and integrated platforms. That's more
than a short-term move. Our perspective has always been long-term (3-5
years, minimum of 1 year). We're in month 3 of the year 2000.

We are concerned, however, that Santa Cruz Operation in our opinion
needs to make this adjustment faster and deliver results in sales of
Tarantella and make bolder Linux moves, to quantify the shift in top
and bottom line. The positive part in our view is that revenue for
SCOC dwarfs its Linux cousins and that SCOC has announced moves to
embrace Linux 100%. SCOC announced three divisions in the company to
line itself up with Linux, servers and services.

Management now needs to execute on the vision, show the benefit of
implementing but it must implement now. Bottom line in our view --
SCOC is about a technology play, network OS experience and personnel
in the tech team. Technology, tech talent and revenue for an upstart
Linux hunter.
