Northgate Starts 2004 Drill Program on Brenda Gold-Copper

VANCOUVER, July 16, 2004 – Canasil Resources Inc. (Canasil, TSXV:
CLZ) is pleased to announce that Northgate Minerals Corporation’s
(Northgate, TSX: NGX, AMEX: NXG) planned 2004 diamond drill program
on the Brenda Gold-Copper porphyry project in north central British
Columbia, Canada, is in progress and work on the first drill hole
started on July 9, 2004. Current plans include 4 drill holes for a
total of approximately 1,200 metres.
