Intelect Signs Contract to Supply City of Fresno, CA
OmniLYNX to Supply Optical Network Backbone to Expand Traffic System Operation And for Future Network Growth Plans Planned by Fresno
RICHARDSON, Texas, June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelect Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: ICOM), a leader in intelligent optical networking
solutions, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Intelect Network Technologies, has signed an initial contract to provide Fresno with
its OmniLYNX OL-600 (OC-12) product to serve as the city's intelligent transportation system network backbone. The initial contract with systems
integrator McCain Traffic Supply totals more than $100,000 to expand the video and data capabilities for Fresno's traffic management system.
Continued expansion is expected for the next several years.
Intelect's OmniLYNX suite of products offers the broadband fiber optic solution Fresno requires today to guarantee bandwidth needs and growth
strategies currently in development. The OmniLYNX product line provides a fully protected, reliable fiber-optic network architecture with more
features, versatility, and scalability to guarantee the success of Fresno's expansion pattern.
The OmniLYNX platform offers a variety of additional interfaces that met the City of Fresno's requirements, including video, 10/100 Ethernet, voice,
and T-1. All future enhancements to the system can be performed while passing live data traffic without impacting services in use. This is
accomplished by inserting the appropriate interface modules into the live nodes and provisioning the system via OmniMANAGER, Intelect's
network management system.
Bill Barnett, president of Intelect Network Technologies, stated, "The OmniLYNX product line is a revolutionary access platform designed for
virtually any type of voice, data or video service to be delivered from one piece of equipment. Its vast scalability and versatility make it the ideal
platform for Fresno's broadband networking needs. It also allows the City of Fresno to offer a superior solution to the traditional network platforms
and remain responsive to its customers' present and future needs efficiently and economically."
Enhanced by support for voice and video communications in the same network, OmniLYNX products provide a single, more manageable system
for traffic flow information control. Intelect's OmniLYNX product line will be installed in McCain model 334 enclosure providing multiple RS-232
services for data connectivity to McCain model 170E traffic signal controllers. These strengths have positioned OmniLYNX as a premier optical
network product for intelligence purpose built optical networks with legacy systems in Texas, Minnesota, Ohio, Connecticut, Illinois, Virginia,
Florida, Alabama, New Jersey, New York, Alaska and Washington.
With an installed customer base of more than 4,000 systems for customers worldwide, Intelect's OmniLYNX product family supports a wide array
of data interfaces, allowing diverse types of systems to be easily integrated into one network. Another advantage OmniLYNX provides for Fresno
includes OmniMANAGER, a single network management system (NMS) that is flexible and easily handled with no external system equipment
requirements.
