Updates, advisories and surprises - UPDATE 9 16.06.2003 23:01    Headlines

Tyco to restate previously recorded charges (4:44 PM ET) Tycosaid Monday it
plans a restatement that would reduce its results for the period between 1998
and 2001 and would increase them for 2002 and the first half of fiscal 2003. The
move would push back previously recorded charges totaling nearly $600 million
into "the historical periods to which they relate, Tyco said. The company said
the restatement is being made at the request of the Securities and Exchange,
which is reviewing the company's accounting records. Shares of Tyco were halted
in after-hours trading at $19.57.

Kmart shares surge on recovery hopes (3:38 PM ET) Kmart shares vaulted
better than 30 percent in midday trading after the discounter reported a
narrowed first-quarter loss. In its first filing since emerging from bankruptcy
last month, the retailer said it lost $862 million, or $1.65 a share, for the
period that ended April 30, against a loss of $1.44 billion, or $2.87 a share, a
year ago. Sales tumbled 14 percent to $6.18 billion. Year-ago results were hit
with a charge of $542 million related to Kmart's bankruptcy filing in January
2002 and the cost of closing stores. At last check, Kmartshares were at $23.43,
up $4.93.

Wavecom tumbles on lower Q2 revenue forecast (9:51 AM ET) Wavecomis down
more than 13 percent to $12.32 after the French wireless and data communications
technology firm said revenue for its second quarter would be down 18 to 23
percent from its first-quarter total of 88 million euros. The company had been

looking for a flat to moderately down sequential performance. Wavecom cited the
SARS epidemic in China, which has hurt consumer spending in that region, and
weakness in the U.S. dollar, for the shortfall. Looking ahead, the company sees
full-year 2003 revenue below 2002 levels with high levels of inventory in China
delaying an expected rebound in the second half of the year by at least one
quarter.

Standard Microsystems beats earnings target (8:18 AM ET) Standard
Microsystemsreported first-quarter income from continuing operations of $1.9
million, or 11 cents per share, compared to $400,000, or 2 cents per share in
the year-ago period. Real estate and securities transactions boosted income by
$500,000, or 3 cents per share. Revenue rose to a better-than-expected $42.7
million, up from $34 million.
A survey of analysts by Thomson First Call forecasted earnings of 4 cents per
share and revenue of $42 million. The Hauppauge, N.Y. communications software
maker said it expects second-quarter EPS of 5 cents, ahead of the Wall Street
forecast of 4 cents per share. Shares of Standard Microsystems rose $1.12 to
$15.25 on Friday.

Priceline in 1-for-six split, OK with Q2 estimates (7:42 AM ET)
Pricelinesaid it effected a 1-for-6 reverse stock split of all outstanding
shares of its common stock at 12:01 a.m. Monday and said it was "comfortable"
with second quarter estimates. The move means holders will get one share for
every six. As a result of the reverse split, PCLN changed its targets. On a
post-split basis, Priceline said it sees earnings between 12-18 cents a share
"and we remain comfortable with estimates within that range." The average First
Call consensus earnings estimate for the second quarter 2003 was for net income
of $3.6 million, which translates to 10 cents per share on a post-split basis,
it said.

Priority Healthcare to miss Wall St. view for Q2 EPS (7:27 AM ET)
Priority Healthcareis saying it doesn't expect to meet the consensus earnings
estimate for its second-quarter results due to less than expected growth in new
hepatitis C patients, the impact of weak economic conditions on the number of
infertility patients and margins related to these services, and compression in
gross profit on oncology distribution products. 11 analysts polled by Thomson
First Call are looking for a profit of 31 cents per share in the period, on
average. Priority Healthcare now sees earnings of $1.16 to $1.22 per share in
sales of between $1.43 billion and $1.48 billion for full year 2003. Wall
Street's consensus estimate is for a profit of $1.29 per share for the year. The
stock closed Friday unchanged at $19.50.

E-Loan ups Q2, fy targets on refi, diversified rev. (7:20 AM ET) Direct
lender E-Loansaid it raised its targets for the second quarter and full year
2003, saying it expected 25-30 percent revenue growth in the second quarter from
its diversified products, which includes purchase and non-prime mortgage, home
equity and auto loans. E-Loan sees second quarter revenue of $42 million and
earnings per share of 10-11 cents vs. an earlier forecast of revenue of $39.5
million and net income of 8 cents per share. For the full year 2003, it expects
$155 million in revenue and net income of 35 cents per share.

Wall Street schliesst dank überraschend guter US-Daten sehr fest 16.06.2003 23:09    Headlines

sehr festen Kursen an Wall Street geführt.

J.D. Edwards würden 14,33 USD geboten, teilten beide Unternehmen am Montag
mit. Ursprünglich hatte PeopleSoft 0,86 eigene Aktien je Anteilsschein und
keine Barkomponente geboten. PeopleSoft fielen um ein Prozent auf 16,75 USD.
