DaimlerChrysler To Report Profits
BERLIN (AP) - DaimlerChrysler raked in record profits last year, with pretax earnings rising 22 percent compared with 1998 to $10.3 billion, a magazine reported Saturday.
Paced by sales of its Mercedes-Benz cars, the German-U.S. automaker made a $11.3 billion operating profit on total 1999 sales of
nearly $150 billion, the newsweekly Der Spiegel said.
A DaimlerChrysler spokesman, Eckhard Zanger, had no comment Saturday on the report, which named no sources. The company
was due to release 1999 figures Monday.
DaimlerChrysler reported 1998 net earnings of $5.1 billion on sales of about $129 billion.
