NEW YORK -- The dollar rose against the euro Tuesday morning amid disappointment at the European common currency's failure to sustain its recent rally.
The euro's losses also weighed on the pound, which retreated against the dollar. However, the U.S. currency slipped against the yen.
Shortly after 10:15 a.m. EST, the euro fetched 90.70 U.S. cents, falling from 91.44 U.S. cents late Friday in New York. The pound bought $1.4422, down a bit from $1.4466 late Friday. The dollar traded at 115.30 yen, retreating from 115.71 yen late Friday. U.S. markets were closed Monday for Presidents' Day.
