Aclara Holder Tang Declares 6% Stake, May Seek a Board Seat

Washington, July 24 (Bloomberg) -- Aclara Biosciences Inc. shareholder Tang Advisors LLC said it holds a 6 percent stake in the biotechnology company and may seek a seat on the company's board.

Kevin and Oscar Tang, who control San Diego-based Tang Advisors, bought Aclara shares between May 21 and June 13 for $1.95 to $2.35 a share, according to a Schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Tangs said in the filing that they plan to talk with the company's management about alternatives ``for enhancing Aclara's stockholder value,'' including possible management changes and ``recommendation of candidates'' for the company's board of directors. Tang and affiliates control about 2.2 million shares of Aclara.
