Intershop Signs Major Customers in Financial, Entertainment

And Chemicals Industries

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Intershop Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISHP; Neuer Markt: ISH), a leading provider of e-business applications for global companies, today announced that it has added three market-leading companies to its fast-growing base of customers in Latin America. Banamex, Mexico's largest financial institution; Cipatex, the top plastics producer in Brazil; and El Foco, a subsidiary CIE, Latin America's largest live event producer, have all selected Intershop products as the foundation for their e-commerce offerings.

Further strengthening Intershop's presence in the region, the company has appointed Arturo Osorio as the new vice president of sales for Latin America. Arturo Osorio was formerly the COO for Mobilestop Worldwide Operations, an ASP for mobile business solutions with offices in Sweden, US, Brazil, Argentina and Iceland. He also served as vice president of operations of Brighstar Corp., a value-added distributor of wireless services for the telecommunication industry. Mr. Osorio has extensive knowledge of the Latin America e-commerce industry with more than 12 years of experience in the region.

Banamex, one of Mexico's largest financial institutions, used Intershop technology to create, an online portal offering banking and business services to merchants and consumers. Banamex links existing affiliates to, exposing them to a wider audience. Merchant offerings include implementation, application and site hosting of e-businesses, and integration with existing systems. Cipatex, the leading plastics plant in Brazil, chose Enfinity to build a portal that services the specialized needs of its large number of chemical suppliers. This business-to-business portal, Facilis, is focused on the third generation of chemical/plastics market, where the processed resins are purchased and manufactured into multi-purpose products that can be used in apparel, tires, disposable products (including diapers and tissues) and medical instruments. Facilis plans to have 150 portals integrated with their initial investment and initially has entered the plastics, chemical and shoe industries.
