COSTA MESA, Calif., Jan 7, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Kanakaris Wireless (KKRW) , which in 1995 changed the context of the Internet by delivering an entire movie with no download time, announced today that it has completed an extensive purge of duplicate and bogus user applications and has 250,000 current qualified registered users.

The company now has the ability to instantly e-mail some or all of these members of its AK.TV and CinemaPop network.

"We have a large, qualified, worldwide base of a quarter of a million registered users. This is a highly sought after consumer group who has watched movies or accessed content from Kanakaris Wireless," said CEO Alex Kanakaris.

"For 2002, we will kick off a marketing campaign by sending an e-mail to our user base in the next few days. Our Kanakaris Wireless community will benefit from a number of transaction opportunities this year," said Kanakaris.

While many major studios have indicated their intention of delivering movies online, Kanakaris Wireless has set the pace with online movie distribution capability. The AK.TV network is available to deliver movies both on-demand and passively streaming, and in a variety of bandwidth optimized versions.

The company has a library of more than 500 movies encoded at three or more different bandwidth access versions. Kanakaris Wireless has successfully delivered films free (ad sponsored), on monthly paid subscription and in individual pay-per-view formats.
