Ericsson Q2 beats consensus, keeps outlook
Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson reported a much smaller than expected second quarter loss on Friday and said it was determined to return to the black this year despite falling market demand.
Ericsson, the world's biggest producer of mobile networks, had a pre-tax loss of 200 million crowns ($24.40 million), adjusted for one-off items, in the April-June period against a 3.1 billion loss in the same period of 2002 and consensus forecast of a 2.0 billion loss.
The company reiterated its outlook that demand for mobile networks this year was likely to decline by more than 10 percent against 2002 and said sales in the third quarter would be flat or slightly lower than in the second quarter.
