DSL.net 4Q Loss Narrows, As Rev Rose 62%

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Dow Jones)--DSL.net Inc. (NasdaqSC:DSLN - News) narrowed its fourth-quarter losses per share by half, as revenue increased about 62% from a year ago.
In a press release Thursday, DSL said it posted a loss of $7.9 million, or 10 cents a share, for the latest period, compared with a loss of $8.8 million, or 20 cents a share, a year ago.
The communications service provider's quarterly revenue climbed to $18.2 million from $11.3 million a year ago. Its EBITDA excluding stock compensation and other items narrowed to a negative $3.4 million from the $3.5 million loss posted a year earlier.
DSL.net's 2003 losses per share narrowed to 64 cents from 77 cents a year ago, as the company benefitted from two acquisitions and the addition of local and long-distance telephone services in some markets.
Revenue for the year climbed to $71.3 million from $45.5 million. DSL's adjusted EBITDA narrowed to a loss of $12.3 million from last year's negative $ 14.3 million.
On Jan. 13, Nasdaq granted DSL another extension to regain compliance with the $1 minimum bid price rule. DSL has until April 19 to trade at or above $1 a share for at least 10 consecutive trading days.
Shares of DSL opened Thursday at 68 cents, down 2 cents, or 2.9%. The company plans to discuss its fourth-quarter results during a conference call that starts at 11 a.m. EST.
