Union Capital Limited is pleased to announce that its associate, Identikey, Limited has formed an association with Sony Computer Peripherals Components Europe.
The delivery association will involve Identikey using Sony’s new fingerprint biometric unit as a new platform for its Internet security software. This association is significant for Identikey in that it marks the first extension into a new delivery platform for Identikey’s software, previously only available for use via tokens.
Once the new platform is operational clients of Identikey will have the option of using the company’s software by either system. The availability of extra delivery platforms provides flexibility for clients and therefore augers well for expansion of the company’s future sales.
A copy of the Sony press release at Info Security Europe is attached. Of significance is that only seven companies including Identikey have been selected by Sony to use the system. The functions of the Sony unit include registration and verification / authentication of fingerprints enabling various functions such as key generation, encryption and decryption. All of these functions are performed inside the unit thereby achieving optimum security.
