According to the ARMY, Quantum's next generation hybrid electric military vehicle CERV was one of the main attractions at this event. The CERV is an electric tactical stealth vehicle designed for recon, rescue and targeting missions and is also the only hybrid vehicle currently certified for transport in the Osprey Rotorcraft. The vehicle, and Quantum's proprietary Q-Force hybrid drive system, was engineered and developed by Quantum Technologies in its Lake Forest Advanced Vehicle Center under contract with TARDEC of Warren, MI. The Q-Force hybrid drive system has been optimized for use with an efficient diesel (JP8) engine and configured to maintain speeds of 80 mph (129 km/h), climb 60% grades, ford 30 inches of water, and perform other unique military requirements—all while using up to 25% less fuel than conventional vehicles of comparable size. The vehicle demonstrated its fuel-efficient, off-road, and stealth mission capabilities in a 90x90 dirt obstacle course. Over 700 rides were given in three days where leadership gave praises for the capabilities that the vehicle can contribute to a more capable ARMY and its role in meeting the Energy saving initiatives in tactical vehicles.
