Acquisition talk Posted: Thu, 25 Aug 2005 [miningmx.com] -- The Financial Mail reports that Aflease CEO Neal Froneman is in talks with Bema Gold Corporation CEO Clive Johnson about acquiring Petrex Mining, a 100%-owned subsidiary of the Canadian-listed mining house. Petrex previously consolidated a number of the old gold mines on the East Rand, including Grootvlei, Marievale and Nigel, into one operation. The FM reports that getting control of Petrex would leave Froneman in control of the entire far East Rand gold field, after the company’s acquisition of gold exploration company Sub Nigel this week. Froneman conceded that there is a high level of risk involved in this proposed transaction. “It’s all about the valuation.
