Newly Received Subsidies Recognize Pixelworks Shanghai's Contributions to Technology Innovation and Advanced R&D Capabilities

PORTLAND, Ore., July 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Pixelworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PXLW), a leading provider of innovative video and display processing solutions, today announced its Shanghai-based subsidiary, Pixelworks Semiconductor Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. ("Pixelworks Shanghai"), has been awarded a series of new subsidies totaling approximately $1.6 million. The cash subsides were received by Pixelworks Shanghai in association with its existing designation as a "Little Giant" enterprise by the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, recognizing the company's recent and ongoing investments in innovative semiconductor design and exceptional research and development capabilities.

Pixelworks' Shanghai-based subsidiary remains an integral part of the Company's more than 25-year history of developing innovative image processing solutions that deliver superior visual quality and viewing experiences. Recent contributions include the advanced integration of visual processing solutions, leveraging internally developed AI enhancements, with a distributed rendering architecture to achieve meaningfully improved rendering performance of mobile devices and gaming. In recognition of this technological advancement and a continued commitment to innovation, the awarded subsidies are intended to offset a portion of Pixelworks Shanghai's previously made investments in related IP, EDA software and initial chip production.

Following the completion of an extensive certification process, Pixelworks Shanghai was designated a national level "Little Giant" enterprise in the fourth quarter of 2024. Overseen by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the "Little Giant" program seeks to identify and formally certify outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises based on a series of strict criteria. Designated enterprises benefit from increased local and national prominence, having been recognized as a leading company with demonstrated strengths in areas such as product innovation and R&D capabilities. The designation also qualifies certified enterprises to apply for unique local and national government subsidies, including potential grants and reimbursement related to investments in research and development.
