What do you think Dan?
WDI - Wirecard sent out two emails to sell side analysts to correct wrong
information spread by the FT Alphaville article and a research report by
unknown JCAPITAL. Extensive corrections of wrong statements in FT Alpha
concern substance of the acquired Indian company as well as its
accounting. Main points: 1) Company exists since 2006, not 2013 (FT Alpha
speculated that revenues look to high for a company thats only around
since two years, 2) It corrected assumptions of underlying business
main point is that the bulk of revenue aside from classical money
remittance (transfer of expat money to Indian accounts, 121% CAGR 2008-13
according to government data) is online travel, representing 80% of
Indian e-Commerce volumes today. The acquired Hermes is a key player for
arline e-Commerce payments and a IATA member. 3) Wirecard corrects wrong
statements about resignation of directors (family members historically
appointed for formal reasons, in the meantime replaced by operational
managers) and auditors (one of the auditors original resignation was due
to formal reasons, re-appointed again as joint auditor). The second email
concerned the research note of (never-heard-of) JCAPITAL in a
nutshell: the note doesnt fulfil minimum standards (for example,
Wirecards business model is misrepresented, conclusions are blatantly
wrong), pictures in the document intended to suggest that Wirecards
offices dont exist eg in Laos are fake (Wirecard never claimed to have
an office in Laos or Cambodia
). View: we think this is yet another
unjustified short attack. We stick to our view that this is a Buying
opportunity for Wirecard shares
