New Exploration Permits Granted to Waratah Coal in Galilee Basin on Extensions to Recently Announced 2.145 Billion Tonne Inferred Resources
Waratah Coal Extends Dominant Tenement Position in Premier Undeveloped Coal Province, World Coal Price Outlook Encouraging as Asian Economies Seek Unprecedented Levels of Long Term and Reliable Energy Sources

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA and VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwire - November 21, 2007) - Waratah Coal Inc (TSX VENTURE: WCI) advises it has been granted two (2) new exploration permits in the Galilee Basin in Queensland, Australia. The permits known as EPC 1079 (Alpha Extended) and EPC 1080 (Laglan) flank the western boundaries of Waratah Coal tenures EPC 1040 (South Alpha), EPC1039 (Pocky Creek) and EPC 1053 (North Alpha).

Waratah recently announced an Inferred Resource of 1.470 Billion tonnes of thermal coal in EPC 1040 and 0.675 Billion tonnes of thermal coal in EPC 1053. The southern extension of the EPC 1053 resource is currently being drilled and will extend west into EPC 1039 shortly. A third party currently holds a 2.1 Billion tonne resource between EPC 1040 and EPC 1053. EPC 1079 also flanks this resource to the west.

The granting of these new EPCs will allow Waratah to track the extent of the known current resources, including the Hancock Prospecting P/L resource, further down dip. As current drilling indicates a benign structural environment with the coal seams dipping 0.5% to the west, Waratah believes that further resources at reasonable mining depths are highly likely.

Waratah Coal now has a total of 5 EPCs granted which cover an area of 2,577km2 in the Galilee Basin. A further 4 applications are pending. Waratah Coal is the largest resource tenure holder in this newest coal province of Australia.

Whilst Waratah continues to expand the known resource the company is also currently investigating options to develop this province to deliver world class tonnage production. This scoping study includes high volume rail and port options as well as "coal to oil" and domestic power generation options.

Waratah believes the global physical demand and price outlook for thermal coal is robust and augers well for a future resource development on the area.

The key drivers for Waratah include:

* High world energy pricing, export thermal coal prices in Newcastle last
week hit an all time record of US$83.75/ tonne (source Barlow Jonker)
* Sustained worldwide demand for coal (China will double it installed coal
fired electrical generating capacity over the next 20 years)
* High quality coal product compared to alternate sources
* Huge coal resource base still expanding should allow low operating cost,
high tonnage operations similar to iron ore development in Western
 Australia
* Structurally benign deposit suitable for high production opencut mining
and high production longwall mining at depth
* Low sovereign risk for investment in Australia
* Australian coal miners are at the forefront of expertise, innovation
 and mining technology

Galilee Basin Coal Characteristics, Geology and Exploration Summary

The five principal coal seams in the Alpha area are sub-bituminous high volatile perhydrous coals suitable for use as thermal coal and potentially liquefaction, gasification and other petrochemical applications. Historical open-hole or partially cored drill holes were drilled by a Shell Development Australia Pty Ltd and Western Mining Corporation Limited joint venture between 1974 and 1976, with one fully-cored hole drilled by Queensland Department of Mines in 1972. Waratah has drilled some 70 chip and partly cored holes to date on EPCs 1040 and 1053 and drilling continues with 5 rigs currently. A further 3 rigs will be deployed following the granting of these new EPCs.

All recent and past boreholes were logged using down-hole geophysical sondes including gamma ray, density, calliper and neutron. These logs accurately determined the seam correlation and seam thickness in all boreholes. SSL and ACIRL Laboratories have analysed the core samples for Raw Proximate Analysis, Specific Gravity, Total Sulphur and Calorific Value, as well as Washability Analysis, Ultimate Analysis, Ash Fusion Temperatures, Hardgrove Grindability Index, Ash Analysis, and Arsenic, Chlorine & Phosphorous levels.

A Map showing Waratah Coal's most recently granted EPC 1053 and the 675Mt inferred resource can be seen at the following link: http://www.waratahcoal.com/images/...07%20EPC%201039%201053%20(6).jpg

Geologically, the Galilee Basin covers an area of 247,000 square kilometres in central Queensland and is entirely intracratonic, filled with Late Carboniferous to Middle Triassic sediments. These rocks are dominantly fluvial in origin with minor glacial material developed at the base of the succession. The Galilee Basin contains extensive coal deposits, largely at depth except for the eastern margin, where the Waratah Coal North Alpha project lies. The basin is almost entirely unconformably overlain by the Jurassic - Cretaceous Eromanga Basin, with the eastern margin of the basin being the only exposed component of the Permo - Triassic sequence.

Exploration of ground to the south of EPC 1053 in the 1970s by companies including Bridge Oil, and the Australian-based subsidiaries of Total, Cogema and Charbonnage de France identified a measured and indicated coal resource of 2.1 billion tonnes. This resource is owned by Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd, from Queensland Coal Resource Inventory, Queensland Coals 14th Edition 2003, Queensland Government, Department of Natural Resources and Mines.

Waratah's drilling in EPC 1079 and EPC 1080 will focus on expanding the size of the two known resources In EPC 140 and EPC 1053 to the west.

Comment

Waratah President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Lynch said the new permits would allow the company to formally begin drilling on the western flank of its Galilee Basin interests. "The granting of EPC 1079 and EPC 1080 is an important development for Waratah and marks the expansion of drilling activity on the western or down dip flank at our licences in the Galilee Basin," Mr. Lynch said. "Recent work strengthens our confidence that our properties contain a world class resource of marketable, export-quality thermal coal."

Mr. Lynch said that, in conjunction with the drilling program, Waratah would begin examining a range of options for infrastructure to transport the coal. The first priority is to demonstrate the project is of sufficient potential to underwrite the necessary rail and port infrastructure.

The Qualified Person for the resource estimates quoted is Mr. Patrick Hanna, Fellow of the AusIMM and Principal Coal Geology Consultant with SRK Consulting, who provided 43-101 compliant statements for all resources in September and October 2007.

Waratah is Pleased to Announce an Increase EPC 1040 South Alpha Inferred Resource to 2.145 Billion Tonnes of Coal
Wednesday January 23, 9:00 am ET
Waratah's Total Inferred Resources Now 2.820 Billion Tonnes in Galilee Basin

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 23, 2008) - Waratah Coal Inc (TSX VENTURE:WCI - News) today announced the upgrading of its estimate from 1.470 billion tonnes to 2.145 billion tonnes of inferred coal resource at Waratah's South Alpha project Galilee Basin, Queensland, Australia.
This revised estimate comes with the inclusion of recently completed boreholes, the return of additional bore core analysis and the granting of EPC 1079 which flanks EPC 1040 down dip to the west. In addition, several "infill" boreholes have been drilled to improve structural confidence of the resource. These boreholes have allowed extrapolation of the resource and will, with further infill, assist in the upgrading of the JORC resource status.

This inferred resource lies 60 kilometres south of the 675 million tonne inferred coal resource at Waratah's North Alpha EPC 1053 project, announced September 10, 2007. The combined inferred resource from both the North Alpha project and today's newly-expanded South Alpha project totals 2.820 billion tonnes. Waratah is continuing to explore both the EPC 1053 and adjacent EPC 1039 tenements and to date results are promising.

Highlights include:
- Highly continuous, shallow dipping coal seams
- High-quality, low-sulphur thermal coal
- 60 kilometres along strike from Waratah's 675 mt North Alpha resource
- Drilling continues to track the seam strike to the south in the South
Alpha lease and west into the newly granted EPC 1079.

SRK Consulting, independent technical advisors to Waratah, have reviewed
data from 47 open and partially-cored boreholes and subsequent resource
modelling to validate the following inferred resource category on the
northern portion of the South Alpha permits 1040 and 1079.

Table 1: Inferred resources, South Alpha

Drilling continues with two rigs moving south and west on 2 kilometre spacing and a further drill rig infilling. The resource will be periodically updated as further results come to hand. As previously stated by SRK:

"These resources are expected to extend to the south of the drilling area as indicated by the strike and dip of the strata. The northern boundary of EPC 1040 is located at the southern boundary of existing defined JORC Code compliant resources at Alpha and Kevin's Corner of 2.05 billion tonnes of coal. This boundary is artificial and constrained by a property boundary fence line. The prospect generally has the potential to produce high tonnages of good quality coals at shallow overburden depths, and is located near roads, rail and basic infrastructure. The structurally benign geological environment may make the seams amenable to underground longwall mining."

Coal quality tests confirm that the seams average 0.5% sulphur, with an average calorific value of 26 MJ/kg or 11,202 Btu/lb on a washed or beneficiated basis. For comparison, the Barlow Jonker Index of spot prices is currently US$90.15 per tonne FOB as of January 17, 2008 and is based on export thermal coal at the Newcastle, Australia coal terminal with a calorific value of 28 MJ/kg and a sulphur content of 0.8%.

To view Figure 1, the chart showing the Australian Thermal Coal Spot Price Ex-Newcastle, please visit the following link http://www.ccnmatthews.com/docs/figure_1.jpg.

Mr. Peter Lynch, CEO of Waratah Coal noted "We now have identified a combined inferred resource of 2.820 billion tonnes in the Galilee Basin, with the coal seams open along strike and down dip. With the granting of EPC 1079, Waratah can now extend its drilling down dip to the west. Three drills are currently operating in the southern tenements and two in the northern tenements continuing to expand and improve Waratah's resources.

Whilst the resource upgrade is pleasing, drilling has been hampered by the early onset of long overdue Queensland wet season. This is a far change of fortune for landholders in the area who have suffered from over fifteen years of drought and whilst Waratah's exploration has been mildly affected we are overjoyed for the landholders with whom we work closely in the field."

Waratah continues to study various mining and infrastructure options necessary to efficiently exploit these deposits and others in the Basin.

Waratah Coal has to date been granted five Exploration Permits - Coal over 2,155 km2 in the Galilee Basin with a further 2,732 km2 in application. Waratah's North Alpha and South Alpha permits are adjacent to Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd's MDLA 333 and EPC 570/MDLA 285 permits, which is reported to host a measured and indicated coal resources of 2.1 billion tonnes as reported in the Queensland Coal Resource Inventory, Queensland Coals 14th Edition 2003, Queensland Government, Department of Natural Resources and Mines.

Waratah Announces Galilee Basin Inferred Resources Now 3.12 billion tonnes
Monday February 25, 9:00 am ET
Waratah increases North Alpha resource to 975 million tonnes of coal in Galilee Basin

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 25, 2008) - Waratah Coal Inc. (TSX VENTURE:WCI - News) is pleased to announce that a limited drilling program at its Alpha North EPC 1053 licence in the Galilee Coal Basin in Queensland, Australia has increased its JORC-compliant inferred resource by 300 million tonnes to 3.12 billion tonnes of thermal coal.

Waratah's EPC 1053 already hosts a JORC-compliant inferred resource of 675 million tonnes of thermal coal on its northern portion. This new drilling program will continue to test the unexplored area to the south of this resource, covering 140km2.

EPC 1053 is some 37km north of Waratah's EPC 1040 which has a recently upgraded JORC-compliant inferred resource of 2.145 billion tonnes. In between Waratah's two licences, Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd has historic resources totalling 2.1 billion tonnes.

The Alpha North project benefits from the following:

- Large resource potential in a previously unexplored area

- Potentially high quality thermal coal products

- Proximity to substantial existing resources

- Recent world wide demand for coal increases dramatically

Record world spot prices for thermal coal.

To view the chart showing the Australian Thermal Coal Spot Price Ex-Newcastle, please check the following link: media3.marketwire.com/docs/therm225.jpg.

To view the North Alpha drill map, please check the following link: media3.marketwire.com/docs/nalpha.jpg.

To date only 17 partly cored and chip holes have been drilled due to the early onset of a long overdue monsoon season. These holes have now been geophysically logged and bore-core analysis allows Waratah to release this resource estimate.

Two drilling rigs are currently employed in EPC 1053. One rig is extending north to join the two known resources while the second will move westward into EPC 1039. The latter drill rig will test the extent of the A-B seam which has thicknesses in excess of 20 metres in other parts of the EPCs. Recent drilling has so far focussed only on the D seam group and the entire 300 million tonne upgrade is within these plies. A third rig is on standby to provide "infill" boreholes for structural integrity and an upgrade to reserve status.

The Galilee Basin is a known geological basin containing Permian-age high quality thermal coals which when washed produces a highly marketable export quality product. The main thrust of the Waratah Coal exploration program is to prove the continuity of the known four seams which account for the 2.1 billion tonnes of coal resource on the licence to the south of Waratah's EPC 1053 North Alpha licence. This area was extensively explored in the seventies by companies including Bridge Oil, Total, Cogema and the Shell Company.

Waratah has already confirmed the extension of these seams to the south in its EPC 1040 and further to the north within EPC 1053. Coal intersections over the four seams on the adjacent drill line in EPC 1053's northern resource show total coal thicknesses up to 30m with the thickest seam 21m.

Waratah's 100%-owned Galilee licences and applications now cover 4,887km2, extending over 185km along strike to the north and south adjacent to the historical resource as well as adjacent and down dip, to the west.

EPC 1053 is one of nine EPCs and EPC applications held by Waratah in the Galilee Basin. Waratah is targeting the potential for a very large scale export thermal coal project, should large tonnages of economically mineable coal be identified. Further exploration in EPC 1053 and adjacent EPC 1039 is expected to confirm Waratah Coal's Galilee tenures as one of the largest black coal resources in Australia.

The Qualified Person for this resource estimate is Mr. Patrick Hanna, Fellow of the AusIMM and Principal Coal Geology Consultant with SRK Consulting, who conducted a peer review of this resource determination on EPC 1053 in February, 2008. The resource estimates were compiled using data supplied by Mr David Campbell, Fellow of the AusIMM and Vice President Waratah Coal and modelling by Mr Andrew McLaughlin, Member of the AusIMM, and Senior Coal Geologist Waratah Coal.
