U.S. Wireless Signs Strategic Alliance With PBS&J to Market Location Enhanced Transportation Services

Motorists to Benefit From Real-Time Traffic and Traveler Management Services
SAN RAMON, Calif., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Wireless Corporation (Nasdaq: USWC; Frankfurt: USP), a leading supplier of wireless location information, today announced it has signed an agreement to partner with PBS&J, a nationally recognized transportation and engineering consultancy, to jointly market transportation management and traveler information services to the multi-billion dollar intelligent transportation market.

The alliance will use the U.S. Wireless location information network to work with state and federal agencies to develop transportation management, traveler information and fleet management systems. U.S. Wireless has already received two contracts to supply location-enhanced traveler and transportation information in Maryland and Virginia.

``We are very pleased to be working with PBS&J,'' said Uday Nagendran, Director of Intelligent Transportation Systems at U.S. Wireless. ``State and federal governments have increasingly turned to 'intelligent transportation' projects in their efforts to improve traffic flow, alleviate vehicle congestion and improve their ability to locate and identify vehicles on highways. PBS&J is very experienced and accomplished in this rapidly growing sector of the transportation industry. Combining U.S. Wireless' mobile information platform with PBS&J's expertise and contacts in the transportation industry will further speed the deployment of real-time location-enhanced traffic information systems and significantly improve motorists' driving experiences.''

``The 'Data Gap' -- the lack of quality data about actual transportation system conditions -- is the most vexing issue facing transportation managers,'' said Rick Schuman, Manager of Traveler Information Systems for PBS&J. ``We estimate that transportation data is currently being collected on less than 20% of expressways in the United States. Almost no data is being collected on major arterials for uses other than signal control. U.S. Wireless' Location Pattern Matching technology offers a promising solution to fill this data gap. We believe that by combining our knowledge and experience in ITS contracting and applications development with U.S. Wireless' innovative location network, we will be able to capture a significant portion of both the publicly and privately funded contracts for traveler information, transportation management, vehicle navigation and fleet management systems.''

Through business partnerships, U.S. Wireless is working with developers of Intelligent Transportation Systems and other transportation-related services to design leading edge localized traffic and traveler services, using the U.S. Wireless location network.
