WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Growth in the U.S. economy slowed in the fourth quarter to a 3.1 percent annualized rate, the weakest growth seen in seven quarters, the Commerce Department said Friday.
For all of 2004, the economy grew 4.4 percent, marking the fastest real growth since 1999's 4.5 percent. In 2004, the nation's gross domestic product totaled $11.7 trillion in current dollars.
