Today June 15, 2017, marks 17 years since the inception of the Autonomous Bougainville Government, and it will be a public holiday for the people of the region.
President John Momis will be in Wakunai to celebrate the anniversary.
This will be after he attends the official opening of the Bougainville House of Representatives resource centre in Buka and then depart for Wakunai district, accompanied by United Nations country representative Roy Trivedy.
From Wakunai, the delegation will depart for Arawa and on Friday will go on to Panguna in Central Bougainville for the Memorandum of Agreement signing between the ABG and Panguna landowners.
On Saturday, Mr Momis and his delegation depart for East New Britain to officiate at the Bougainville Foundation Day Anniversary celebrations there.
The MOA ceremony at Panguna on Friday will be attended by most ABG ministers and members of the House for the historic milestone.
