Echt komisch.
Ich habe noch nie von solch einer Anfrage vorher gehört. Ihr?
Wenn ja, was waren die Endergebnisse daraus?

...Vermutungen helfen ja nicht weiter d.h. Schlüsse daraus zu ziehen geht nicht.

Fakt ist das quantitative oder Veränderungsdaten/Bewegungen  (Ankauf/Verkauf) der Depots die außerhalb  Australien`s existieren gesammelt werden.  Vielleicht will man die Genauigkeit die mit einer Abfrage nicht erreicht werden kann, verbessern.
Da sind wir wieder bei der Frage nach dem warum???? und spekulieren schon wieder.;-)))
Hochinteressant für den Auftraggeber dieser Nachfragen könnte z.Bsp. das Wissen
über die Verteilung von % Anteilen sein in Zusammenhang mit dem Australischen Aktienrecht oder bei einem bevorstehenden Angebot an die shareholder insgesamt oder nur für bestimmte Haltezeiten oder...............??

Lediglich eines scheint mir da sicher zu sein bei diesem Aufwand:  über kurz oder lang werden wir es erfahren. ;-)))

Auch in Zukunft bleibt Kupfer stark im Portfolio gewichtet. Dies liegt auch an der Position Bougainville. Hier sieht das Orderbuch wieder besser aus. Die Aktie konnte nach massiven Kursverlusten (wahrscheinlich durch short selling) seit Jahresanfang fast 50% in Euro an Wert gewinnen. Mit den kommenden Nachrichten: Mai: Wahl der neuen Regierung – sollte Momis gewinnen, will dieser im Juni mit Rio Tinto über eine Neueröffnung verhandeln. Der kleine Inselstaat Bougainville, braucht die Mine um selbständig zu sein. Gleichwohl will man nicht mit Rio Tinto (dem größten Aktionär von Bougainville Copper) verhandeln, da der Konzern für Menschenrechtsverletzungen verantwortlich gemacht wird. Dummerweise im jetzigen Umfeld gibt es nur wenige Gesellschaften, die die Investitionen von 4 Mrd. USD finanzieren können. Bei Wiedereröffnung ist eine Verzehnfachung darstellbar.

Ebenfalls sehr positiv wird das Uranumfeld gesehen. Hier war die wichtigste Nachricht im Monatsverlauf, das Japan um die Sendai Regionen wahrscheinlich demnächst AKWs wieder hochfährt. Meine Position Cameco in diesem Segment ist mittlerweile mit 20% sehr groß, allerdings werden die Aussichten ebenfalls sehr positiv gesehen.

Als alter Goldbulle verzweifele ich langsam an der Goldposition. Im Wochenverlauf war dieser wieder schwächer, obwohl die Rahmenbedingungen für Gold sprechen. Neben Krisen und asiatischer Nachfrage ist die Entwicklung der Währungskurse (starker USD) wichtig. Ein schwacher USD ist meist positiv für die Rohstoffe, gleichwohl muss man sagen, dass das gegenwärtige Umfeld ideal für nicht US-Miners ist. So können bspw. südafrikanische Goldminenproduzenten sich über einen um rund 5% gestiegen Goldpreis (in ZAR) seit Jahresbeginn freuen, während ein Großteil der Kosten in lokaler Währung anfällt. 31% des Zertifikates sind in Goldaktien.

Die Positionierung erachte ich derzeit als vorteilhaft. Gold sollte nicht mit dem Markt korreliert sein und von einem stärkeren USD profitieren. Kupfer ist eine strukturelle Geschichte und Uran sollte ebenfalls nur bedingt mit dem Gesamtmarkt korreliert sein.    

Insgesamt sollen die Wetten weiter fokussierter werden, in diesem Zusammenhang wurde die Positionen Vale und Panoramic Resources geschlossen. Die Aussichten für das Zertifikat werden neutral eingeschätzt. Spannend bleibt wie die Aktien-Leitkonference von Merrill Lynch Mitte Mai aufgenommen wird. Die Struktur sollte sich konzentrierter darstellen.  

Sehr zufrieden war ich gleichwohl mit der Position Bougainville Copper. Hier wurde Anfang April zwei Nachrichten bekannt, die in ihrer Ausprägung signifikant sein können: (1) Das Minengesetz des nach Unabhängigkeit strebenden Staates weist nach Angaben von Bougainville Unterschiede zum bisherigen „Draft“ aus. Der bisherige Vorschlag kam einer Enteignung nahe, daher sollte trotz fehlender Details, diese Nachricht eher besser sein. Zum (2) wurde im Steuerstreit mit Papua Neuguinea einen Einigung erzielt. Aufgrund des Orderbuchs sollte der Kurs weiter zur Stärke tendieren. Der Anteil an leer verkauften Anteilen ist sehr hoch, so dass „short coverage“ nicht ausgeschlossen werden kann. Aus meiner Sicht hat Bougainville Copper einen Enterprise Value (EV) von etwa 4 Mrd. USD Wert. Dabei würden rund 3 Mrd. USD auf Schulden entfallen, während der Rest Eigenkapital darstellen würde. Dies impliziert eine Verzehnfachung des heutigen Kurses. Insgesamt soll die Position allerdings nicht 30% des Zertifikats ausmachen, so dass sie in die Stärke verkauft wird.

Has Rio Tinto now decided to dispose of its majority holding in the world's most controversial mine (certainly historically-speaking)?

"No" is the short answer. Almost certainly, it won't make a final decision until its 53.38%-owned Bougainville Copper Ltd (BCL) has completed an "Order of Magnitude" study on the Panguna mine "assets", begun some years ago.

This is intended to value of the mine's "assets" and the costs of returning them to profitable production. Although BCL has had some access to the mining lease area of late, it has by no means been able to perform such due diligence. Indeed, the company admits it would take some years before it can come up with a feasibiity study that would attract any major investment .

As noted on this website, BCL has been cock-a-hoop about re-opening the minel for the past three years; and the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG)'s president, John Momis, has been solidly behind the move.....

ASX Market Rule 19.5.1, by reference to the Procedures, currently limits the number of approved securities which may be short sold to no more than 10% of the total number of all approved securities of an Issuer. The intention behind this rule is to prohibit naked short selling in circumstances which could increase the risk of settlement failure.  

Even worst, the ASX did not known the full extent of short selling and therefore
could not be enforcing it Rule 19.5.1.  I am of the opinion, that the ASX has turn
ed a blind eye to this and still does not know the extent of the short selling that has occurred.

Even worse the ban by the government into short selling and even now into short selling in financial stocks did not stop the short selling.

In CFD’s if a person wanted to obtained a short exposure to one of the banks, they could sell a CFD.  This means that if the share price went down in the bank, they would benefit from the position.  The arbitrageur would buy the CFD and to eliminate the risk sell borrowed stock.  They would now report this to the ASX as a short sale.  That’s why we are seeing short sales in banks still occurring.
The ASX should be adding together the current day short sales with the previous days accumulation to come to a total short sale position.  Once 10% was reached no further short sales could occur.  The issue was the ASX had no starting point because of the previous unreported “covered short sales”

Even worst the ASX has no mechanism to monitor for breaches of this rule.

The current Transactional Reporting Regime, is only reporting “gross short sales” and not “net short sales” (ASX Rule 19.6.1).  The consequences is that only new short sales are reported we no need to report the closing out of a short position.  In this re
gard there is no way of actually predicting the level that a stock is short sold.  This is most important position that a client needs.  Not that yesterday that 60+% of the sales were short sales.  This could be done by subtracting from the previous days position. The current regime has been more misinforming than having almost nothing, as it favours the existing short selling as new short sales are shown everyday.  What keeps markets down is the fear and press dessiminating the new shorting.

Taxation

I am pleased to report to the shareholders that the company has negotiated a
settlement with the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Commission

Das mit den Kosten ist quatsch, dass "somit" alle Verfahrenskosten zwangsläufig zu Lasten BCL gehen. Es kann auch sein das vereinbart wurde, dass jeder seine Kosten selbst trägt und die (Anwälte) dürften längst bezahlt sein...

Ich hattte nicht von allen Kosten geredet.
Ich habe jetzt einfach mal den "Normalfall" unterstellt, bei dem die Kosten entsprechend der Kompromissquote geteilt werden.

Ist ja eigentlich wurscht. 1/3 zu 2/3 oder 1/2 zu 1/2.....
Auf jeden Fall sind es 39,7 abzüglich aller zu tragenden Aufwendungen.
Das ist von 114 ziemlich weit weg und ist in meinen Augen eher als Niederlage denn als Erfolg zu werten.

Glas drittel voll oder zweidrittel leer. Für mich ist es zweidrittel leer.
Für Optimisten ist es natürlich 1/3 voll.

39,7 / 400 Mio sind etwa 0,1 Kina je Aktie. Da hatte ich mir mehr erwartet.

* Das andere die Politische Entscheidung > mining mit BCL < und zu den  geforderten Rahmenbedingungen.

Das BCL zum  operativen Geschäft zurückkehren will und in welchen Schritten haben sie ja jetzt dargelegt. Die Studien werden zu keinem anderen Ergebniss kommen.

Die Frage ist doch: kann der shareholder eine Kurssteigerung nach einer positiven Entscheidung durch das AGB für BCL  erwarten? Ich rechne schon mit einer positiven Entwicklung des Kurses bei solchen New´s.

Desshalb beeindrucken mich auch nicht im geringsten die hier hin und wieder auftauchenden Chartexperten mit Ihren ´´Berechnungen´´  ;-)))

Work Programs

In view of recent actions of the Bougainville legislature, funding to progress all studies and welfare programs will be limited until uncertainties of tenure and the legislative regime are clarified.

During the period, limited work continued to refine the 2013 Order of Magnitude Study, which is an exercise aimed at giving the company guidance as to the most appropriate and cost effective way to re-develop the Panguna resource. It is one of the Board’s major tools in evaluating options going forward.

The Order of Magnitude Study is based on many assumptions including commodity prices, market demand, investor risk, opportunity costs, security of tenure and others. In brief it describes a new mine at Panguna processing between 60 million and 90 million tonnes of ore per annum, over a mine life of 24 years, with an estimated capital cost of 5.2 billion US dollars, as estimated in 2013.Further, more detailed studies, such as a pre-feasibility study and a feasibility study are required to confidently determine the potential economic viability of re-opening the mine. Only upon completion of those studies will the Board be sufficiently informed to take a decision whether or not to proceed with financing and commencement of construction.

The time-line to first production could be between five and seven years from the date of approval and financing.

Many of the assumptions, including the size of the resource, the life of the mine, and the start-up cost, may vary significantly when the company gains access to the former mine site and undertakes further work.

Several other studies were initiated by the company, in conjunction with the Bougainville Administration, aimed at providing a clearer picture of the environmental conditions, the needs of the population, training and employment readiness, as well as land ownership and social mapping. However the company is not in a position to commit to funding these studies until tenure is assured
